Unlike most people on this page i don't like using the comp to enhance drawings so here is one of my own.

Just cos you're msn name is caught in the print screen caption@!

I reccommend irfanview, it's about a trillion times better than the junk that's included with windows

Nice drawing, can't believe someone is still using kazaa tho! Program sucks for viruses

Next time i post a picture I'll only post the pic and not the screen shot!!

It's a great picture, his face is a wee bit flabby for a warrior though :|

nice pic

(GET K++!)

edit: and Limewire for the emule network etc like Ennui said

What's K++?

edit: oh duh, kazaa. limewire pwns.

I should really get a thread in the showcase section!!

I'll need some votes though...

You dont "vote" yourself into the Showcase section, TDE puts you there! (in the old days, that is :p)

I probably should take Ennui's advice and post more work before confronting this TDE fella about a position in the fabled showcase club!!

Post up some more work and I might just move your thread to the Showcase... :E

Actually, Please consider this before you do:

To Eatbug,
I just read through the entire thread and it may be just me, but eatbug sound like a d**k. First off, you say "I don't use comp to enhance my drawings" as if you were just too good for that. I don't either (http://emmdoubleew.deviantart.com/gallery/). And the thread title? "Real Drawings"? Are you insinuating the rest of ours are fake?

Although I have no problem with your drawing being a blatant copy of Leonardo Da Vinci's work - because after all, what better way to learn than from the great masters - I do have a problem with the fact you made NO mention of a reference whatsoever. (link: http://www.wga.hu/art/l/leonardo/08heads/01helmet.jpg)

People were trying to help you by proposing the use of Firefox for web browsing purposes, but no, you're too good for programs remember?

Lastly, considering the drawing is an exact copy of Leonardo's work, it isn't that great. You have some awkward lines, wierd shading, primitive bulk perception, and although I DO realize it's unfair for me to compare your work to the great master's, I have to say it's miles away from the incredible detail of the original.

I'm always up for changing my mind, so if you post some more good work, I'll accept you as a good artist.

Thanks for understanding,

<3

I must admit I found his comment about computer art offending.. as I'm sure the hundreds of pro's who use digital art professionally would have felt.

He wont be going in the showcase section. Infact people are gonna have to try harder to get in there and noticed I think..

Hmm yep. We're gonna try keep the quality of the work in the Showcase high :) And unless the threads keep updating they will be moved out

hmm, thats actually a really good idea. About removing threads from it that aren't updated regularly with new work. Makes it fair on others then.

Good idea :D:D:D

Are you talking about his first post? It didn't seem like he was going for "offending" to me, more like he was just stating that he didn't use photoshop. I dunno, maybe it was meant to be demeaning, but whatever.

Although, I do think its a little weird that he posted one image and wants to be in the showcase section. :P Showcases generally have multiple pictures...

He was so blatant about it: "real" drawings, "I don't like using comp to enhance my drawings".

Don't worry about it though, I think most of us are aware digital art takes as much, if not more skill.

Well to start with I think I owe TheSomeone and other's who have taken my "real drawings" title the wrong way. It was originally called that because someone I knew was criticising computer art and I wanted to show him some "real art" as I put it. Also it was just to show a friend and I didn't consider stating facts.

It is a copy of Leonardo's antique warrior and it is done by hand not computer.

Okay, I appreciate and accept your apology. Just make sure you don't say something that might be taken the wrong way next time.

<3 always.

I'll tone down my ego and just get back to plain drawing practise!

Peace on the internet, such a rare thing. :P

Lets see some more drawings, though, you look like you have potential! :)

A horse ah

It took me a f***8 long time to get the proportions of the horse's body right and since I've never drawn horses before that didn't help either. So here it is and I challenge someone here to draw a horse and get the proportions right cos it's not that easy!!

I'm still not sure if it looks perfect yet but I'll try something easier next time!!

Very nice, eatbugs. I wish I had skills like that..

Another drawing to keep everyone sane. It started off just a study of a hand, then I got carried away... :naughty: :naughty:

Yes, this is a window into my madness. :imu:

How much picture reference did you use? The horse looks quite good, although a bit 2 dimensional. The hand is also very, very good; its very difficult to draw those damn things! The heads look like they could use some proportion work, even though they do look like characatures, a bit. :) Keep it up.

They are overall good, but one main problem I've been noticing is your l ine quality. You have a bunch of double lines that are pretty distracting.

Also even though you seem to know how to shade, you can still improve on your bulk perception. Right now, your drawings look more "embossed" than 3D.

Good job otherwise.

<3

Btw: How old are you?

DaVinci's Warrior armour was based on fantasy rather than observation, and what's with the pseudo proportion guides around the horse? they don't mean anything with regard to proportion.

Drawing other peoples art is the worst way to learn how to draw - all the mistakes get reproduced and added to.
Wouldn't mind seeing a pencil drawing of yours taken from life, eatbugs. I love graphite, it is such a natural medium and you obviously have the talent if you just push yourself.

With referance to The Someone's question I'm 16, so for me, at my stage I thought that trying to draw some old masterpieces would help me. Also, the horse really was tricky for me especially when I didn't know the muscle/skeletal structure either. And Crom I'll draw something from life if you give me a subject or photo to try my hand at.

EDIT: Here is a quick drawing of the world's heavyweight champion of wrestling, enjoy.
