**** sake!
I'm so pissed off. I suppose this isn't a disucssion as such rather a general rant and a warning to everyone.
Okay, so I bought a Nokia 6100 off ebay from a guy with lots of positive feedback thinking I'd got a good deal (final sale price £137 & £5 p+p).
I paid by PayPal so the guy really should have sent me the phone straight away, but he replied after payment saying it would be a few days because he would send it from work (therefore he gets to send it for free?).. anyway a few days later I got the phone.
So I opened the box, put my sim-card in, turned the phone on and it seemed to work fine. I then gave the phone a quick once over, checking the menus etc. All seemed fine so I gave the guy a good piece of feedback.
Later that day I could hear a vibration on my desk upstairs. I went up and someone was calling the phone. I thought it odd that the phone didnt 'ring' so I reset it to factory default settings... no luck.
This was when I realised what I'd forgotten to check the loudspeaker! It was broken... and I could neither hear people ringing me, or switch loudspeaker on during a call.
I e-mailed the guy to tell him and he said that because I'd left him good feedback as far as he was concerened it was no longer his problem and told me to send the phone to Nokia who would fix it for me free of charge because the phone was only 4 weeks old and still under warranty.
So I sent the phone... and the weeks passed... and passed... and passed. Three weeks later I rang them to find out what was talking so long and was told by the woman on the phone that they'd sent me a letter out which i never recieved on the 30th of January.
Basically the long and short of it was the phone had been damaged by water at some point and this wasnt covered by the Nokia warranty. She also informed me it would cost £12.99 to get the phone delivered back to me.
So now I'm £154 worse off with a phone that doesnt work properly and stand to loose a ton of cash even if it sells well for a faulty phone on ebay.
TYPICAL!
