Edge review HL2 :)

Warbie - I don't mean to intrude, but is it possible to change the topic title to indicate the score from Edge? ;)

This is BIG news considering how notoriously hard the magazine is to impress.

It doesn't help that Rllmuk are down right now either.

Like Mortiz said, if you're referring to Rllmuk, it'll have been all the traffic interested in the Edge scores all over the web to there which has knocked the place down (temporarily).

It's funny that some Halo fans over there have the same kind of venom for HL than some people here have for Halo. It's like the bizarro world!
 
how can people say halo 2 is going to be better than hl2 as soon as i heard about hl2 i totally forgot about halo 2

10/10? Thats just not right.

See, Other games got 10. So you're playing a game rated 10, and its good, but where do you go from there? Where?

HL2 gives that extra push, it is one better.

HL2 goes all the way to 11.

*sigh* and we manage to go full circle yet again.

10/10 doesn't mean the game is perfect - it means it's an example of the best that genre has to offer at the time (genre defining, revolutionary - what ever you want to call it)

So, i'm reading this, and i'm interested in Edge - thing is, i'm in the USA. Is it that good that i should consider importing it? Can anyone give me more info?

I'm amazed that people are still going OMG 10/10, 98% etc etc.

Hell, we hoped this game would be special. The reviews have confirmed that and this new one doesn't tell me anthing other than what I already knew......

HL2 will be amazing!

.....and a 9/10 would not have dampened my enthusiasm (any more than a 11/10 would have lifted it!)

cool news. Also, what you said about the 10/10 rankings and it being a great game of its time, i didnt know that. Is it like that for all reviewing magazines ect? If it is then ive been misunderstanding them for years lol! (thinks maybe he should read the "what do the reviews mean" section in PCGamer...)

YAH!!!......i want hl2 now!!!...... as more and more reviews are giving hl2 awesome reviews the hype and the anticipation just keep increasing......i think tomorrow i'm going to start having a nervous twitch..... :sniper:

It's a multiformat magazine - and definately recommend it if you're into gaming, and the industry, as a whole.

Edge is know for being fair, but very critical. The reviews/previews are informative and unbiased. It gets exclusive developer interviews, a behind the scene look at the making of classic games, articles on how gaming has evolved over the years etc Edge basically covers all the basic stuff every other mag does (but with considerable more style and substance) and then adds a whole wealth of information.

The magazine itself is also very high quality - excellent screenshots, page layout, high production value (makes other gaming mags look like cheap comics) It is that good :)

An intelligent look at gaming as a hoby :)

Someone from NTSC-uk (a new source not relating to the initial score posts on Rllmuk just in case people start again), has listed the contents of what's in the re-designed issue and re-confirmed Edge has given Half-Life 2 10/10. Here's the link - Check the last few posts.

On a side-note, it's great to see Fumito Ueda interviewed once more. Whatever you say about Edge, when they give a game 10/10, you know it genuinely has to be something special to receive such a score. :)
 
If the 10 score is true (and it looks like it may well be) this is the best sign yet that HL2 is going to be somethink special.I trust this mag more than any other though I agree that 10 for Halo was a bit much.However, the other 10's it has given out have been pretty much spot on.
HL2 will now officially rock. :bounce:

Or maybe halo was a great game. I expect nothing less of Halo 2
 
Either way, HL2 sounds very special :) \o/
