Okay, I just read a few previews on the Elder Scrolls IV, and I'm curious what system will it look best on the Xbox 360, or the highest of the high end PCs?. I'm leaning more towards the Xbox because I have a huge tv (well, its alot bigger than my computer monitor thats for sure). Btw, this game looks like its gonna kick ass!. I was a big fan of Morrowind, although the nill combat and sometimes stale NPC interaction kept me from completing most of the game. It looks like Oblivion is going to fix all that. Plus, I heard that Patrick Stewart is doing the voice acting for the Emperor so that was a bonus for me. I also heard that there would be other famous voice talent in the game, oops got a little of track :hmph:

Depends on good your PC is. In the long run and in the end, yes the PC version will look better. Though you also would have to take in consideration, what one is coming first? PC or Xbox 360? If the Pc version comes out first, then by the time the Xbox 360 version comes out the Pc version may be better in graphics. Anyway, once Bethseda starts releasing Xbox 360 and Pc versions(Labels them diffrent) then we could probably really start to tell. Until then!

BTW, you can hook your PC to the TV if you have a S-Cord(?) output on your video card. Any real good video card should have one. If you have a newer TV it should also be able to handle a S-Cord.

They probably won't make one that looks better than the other, but if you have an HDTV then the Xbox 360 will have the advantage. The Xbox 360 version will also probably have a locked 60FPS, which can be taken as both an advantage and disadvantage depending on how you look at it.

As Axyon said, if that TV of yours is a HDTV, go for the 360, otherwise, the PC vers will most definitely look better.

May have to disagree with you looking at my PC ;(

Unless you're running a rig that can barely run Half-Life 2 on medium detail :p

[note: I'm referring to me.]

Pc, biggest reason for the downloadable content. There are dozens of gaming pc cards that support hdtv, the xboxs hdtv capabilities is not an advantage over all pcs. It also depends on how diffrent the graphics will be, ie half life 2 will not look better on xbox 1, I dont care what kind of monitor/tv you use.

Mods for the PC....Smack.....I would smack you if you hadn't of reminded me of that.

Look at Morrowind....hundreds of thousands of Mods that make the game more than breathtaking, even texture mods to improve the games graphics :).

Now Oblivion will have an improved version of the Construction Editor :). Once Oblivions graphics start getting outdated on the PC....you can be sure that they will be improved by the community just as morrowinds textures were.(Tons of texture packages for morrowind)

So in the end the PC version will supply more content than the Xbox 360 version due to the community's mods.

True, the additional content is the main reason the PC vers'll own, but none the less, I'm sure we'll see SOME downloadable content for the 360 :)
I'll probably get the XB360 version to start, then when I've gotten my new PC I'll get the PC vers.

I played both the PC and Xbox versions of Morrowind, and even though the Xbox version had it`s faults, and not the ability to be patched and modded, I must say I enjoyed it so much more. I can`t quite explain it, it just felt more solid than the PC version.

Thats wierd Cerpin considering they were the exact same game(Except they messed up the first xbox release of the game and had to get all copies sent back and send the new fixed copies)

Anyway, obvioulsy the Xbox 360 will have some downloadable content..if is microsofts way we will pay for this content(As they were talking about this being one of Lives features).

I'll have my hands on an xbox360 due to a xbox/halo fanatic housemate, so i could pick it up if i cant afford a pc upgrade. But i'll probably upgrade anyway for other games, hl2 aftermath/lost coast etc... so PC for me unless something goes wrong :)

Definitely PC- I've got no intentions of purchasing a console anytime soon, since I'm a) broke and b) a cheapskate.

That said, I probably won't be able to afford the upgrades that'd make Oblivion playable on my machine :x

PC for me. I have a kind of downward spiral of games. My first choice is the PC, if I can't get it for PC, I get it for Gamecube because that is my preferred console and the controller suits my hands, then, if I can't get it for Gamecube, I'll get it for XBox. If I can't get it for XBox, I won't get it at all because in my opinion the PS2 controllers are god-awful.

Sorry, went off topic a bit there.

I will get it for PC because of the mod community and the better keymapping etc.

I had elder scrolls 3 morrowind for xbox and pc and preferred the xbox version better despite having a top end pc. Mainly because i thought it controlled better on xbox and was the type of game more relaxing to play on the couch with a big tv.

I will be getting elder scrolls 4 oblivion for xbox360.

I'll be getting TES 4 on the PC. RPG's seem so unnatural on a console (even if they are good).

In terms of graphics, of course the next generation of consoles are gonna look better than a state of the art PC Gaming system. It always happens, but a year down the road, computer graphics improve while those fixed systems stagnant.

I just find it funny that with every generation of consoles, they start to become more and more PC like.

Blah that takes me to my almighty belief. Consoles will eventually become a...pc.
I believe that one day you will be able to get browsers and serf the web.

Then all of the sudden...there are more things you can buy for your console to upgrade it... and all of the sudden...consoles become pc's and "Console" is the pc's new name and it goes like that for a few years when a "pc" comes out which are like todays consoles which eventually evolve into what pc's are todays or the futures consoles which repeats itself until the race end. Yall understand?

Already done, you could surf the internet, exactly like on a PC, on the Sega Dreamcast, which was released even before the PS2.

Muahaha... I'm telling you...with the "Ps4" and the "Xbox: <StupidNameHere>" it will happen.....!!!!!

surfing the net on the xbox is good, except for trying to type something (unless you've mastered ;)) and standards issues.

surfing the Internet with a console would like this:

me: YXBBBBAAAAAAA select xxZZZYYYYYY R1 R2
friend:YYYAABBBBBL1L2 start BBBBBXXXXXXXX

Might wanna reconsider that :)

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/e32005/devinterviews/20050518-oblivion.htm

"In many ways, the development has been similar to Morrowind's, since we basically started from scratch on Oblivion. But this time around, we were making a console game from the very start. We knew from day one that Oblivion would be on the Xbox 360™, while with Morrowind, Xbox development didn't start until we were halfway done. Oblivion's been designed from the ground up to be a next-generation console game in every respect."

pc ..why spend top $ for a next gen console when if you wait for a year or so it'll come down by at least a 1/3 in price? ...I'll just upgrade my pc while waiting for next gen consoles to come down in price. Besides if this game is anything like morrowind then player created content will keep me playing for years after it's release ..dont know if that would be the case with the xbox version

I'll probably get the XBox 360 version since I have a crappy computer and I don't care about the mods.

PC version. The Elder Scrolls series was originally just a PC thing, and it just seems right to play it on PC.
