election coverage gets a-rolling

Bleh, I'm going to bed. Was hoping to have good news, but it seems that won't be happening.

It's easy to compose such a haughty post when you're not the one getting shafted by the out-sourcing -- hence, losing your job.

You speak as if liberal is a bad word. I pity that mentality. The root word of "liberal" is liberty. If you wish to classify me as a liberal, then so be it. I don't feel inclined to categorize individual people with such labels.

Last time I checked with common sense, jobs and companies moving overseas is a negative for the US. There goes a bunch of tax money, jobs that would result in tax miney, the market takes punches, the technology industry takes punches, I could go on. Tell me another.

I simply oppose the viewpoint you hold. By the sarcastic remarks, I meant no offense, I meant I will never convince you with that arguement. But it sounds like you're applying emotion to politics, which you are entitled to do.

Anyways...
The overseas labor results in more profit fewer taxes. Everyone agrees with that.
The next step is: What do companies do with that money? They re-invest. Just like sweatshops, the laborers are essentially ripped off to create money for the economy.

But like I said, this is only a clear benefit for big businesses. I understand you place your well being before your company's well being, and that is where we differ.

Well it appears Bush has won re-election. I could literally feel the depression sink me after watching the results tonight. Another 4 years of massive budget deficits, worthless healthcare "reform" and tax cuts for the richest 1% of the country.

There are to many stupid people living in this country. To many single issue gun and abortion voters...ugh..

Bush does everything wrong and still gets re-election. What in gods name is wrong with my fellow Americans. Wake up for christ sake..

we are wide awake, my friend. perhaps you should arise from your ignorant lull, yourself. bush has been a great president, and im glad he's been re-elected (unofficially). i am so glad the majority of the american people have not been fooled by the uneducated bullsh*t spoonfed by our liberal media and moore-ons alike. thank god the truth is available, i only wish more people would spend some time on some intelligent research, as many clearly have not.

Quimby's Assisstant: Election in November! Election in November!

Please enlighten me as to what exactly Bush has IMPROVED in our country since he took office. His party had control of congress and the house for roughly 4 years, and he has accomplished what exactly? What has improved?

Bush isnt even a conservative, he has taken surpluses and turned them into the largest federal deficit in the history of the country. Look at the size of the current federal government, so much for Republicans being for smaller government, what a joke.

bush is winning iowa, ohio, new mexico, and nevada. its over. bush won. yay.

Japan, is still a very powerful country. Their economic problem specifically lies within the Central Bank of Japan. It is not strong enough to take corrective action to fix the Japanese economy. The US does not have that problem. On a side note, the EU doesn't have a strong enough central bank to prevent a Japanese type recession. Same with China.

Innovation, as in creating new ideas. India's largest companies are not companies that are creating new products, rather they are companies that are trying to mimic the innovation pionerred by IBM and Oracle. Look at Google or Microsoft. Innovation is still alive in the US. We are in a transitionary period. I have no doubt we will recover rather quickly.

Socialism is the way to achieve economic growth and fix the current job situation. /sarcasm.

Where are all of Japan's jobs? They're sure as hell not in Japan anymore. Back in the 70's and early 80's, everyone thought Japan was going to become this economic and manufacturing superpower, but they gave it all away (well, they still have good innovation, atleast). They didn't keep their jobs. What good is an idea if you have no one to build it?

You can have all the innovation you want, but if you don't have those little guys to make the magic work, then what good is it? Especially when countless internationals come here to get educated, leave and head home. If America continues this track, we'll be looking like western Europe; looking to socialism for answers.

he inherited a failing economy from clinton, and in the wake of 9/11, has helped produce the fastest growing economy in 20 years. we have a higher GDP rate over the last 4 quarters, then we did every year under clinton. we have one of the lowest unemployment rates in 30 years. we have gotten rid of 80% of al-qaeda, removed saddam hussein and liberated the iraqi people. provided beneficial tax cuts that helped sustain our economy and have shifted more of the burden on the rich.

for starters...

Yeah, I know. Sorry. I apologize to both you and BlahBlahBlah. I'm just a little angered having come home to find my vote washed down the crapper and having wasted an hour and a half of my day standing in line.

Take your own advice bro.

It looks like Bush is going to win Ohio and New Mexico for sure, which is all he needs to win the presidency. Tomorrow we can watch the democrats start the recount shit again, except this time in Ohio.

Japan entered a recession and pretty much had much of their bank system pretty close to collapse. With their banking system in near shambles and the lack of a strong Central Bank, Japan could never do anything to recover from the recession.

Japan could have easily recovered if Japan's banking system didn't hinder Japan's recovery. Japan could have shifted its focus onto technological innovation, technological production, biotechnology or a host of other innovative fields. Instead they floundered because of several misteps.

That is why getting an advanced education is important. Something to help you develop an innnovative idea. A person in India only cares about trying to make a dollar, not be innovative.

Your vote wasn't washed down the drain. Your vote was counted. I voted for Kerry (even though I am a Republican). I'm not angry, I've just moved on. I'd think that Bush has heard my vote. He wants to do everything in his power to increase his approval rating in the upcoming years.

Take pride in voting! It's only a shame after the fact. I hope you're not discouraged.

Anyway, Bush win, good/bad celebrate/bitch, whatever. I'm hittin the sack. g'night

To the people who say that another Bush win proves that there are idiots in America:
Nice one, Einstein.
There have been, are, and will be idiots in the US of A, and every other country. If Kerry had won, I could easily say the exact same thing for the Kerry side. Instead of "Durr, we liek bush!!!1", it's "Durr, kerry pwns j00!!11"
I guess this time around we (the Bush camp) ended up with more idiots swinging our way.

Not true.

If I have come off pissy and arrogant to you guys in this thread, I'm sorry.... Bush just really scares me. I just went to the bathroom and missed the toilet dramatically ;(

Hm.

BBC aren't showing it as over yet. I think after the performance of the last election, I'll wait for the BBC :p

wake up guys... kerry would have to win 80% of ALL outstanding votes for my tally not to be true. its over. bush wins new mexico, nevada, and iowa. kerry wins wisconsin. in the 5 counties left in ohio, bush is winning in 4 of them. military absentee ballots will only widen the gap, as 75% of the military is republican.

don't be so indignant... bush won fair and square yet again.

That is why getting an advanced education is important. Something to help you develop an innnovative idea. A person in India only cares about trying to make a dollar, not be innovative.

That's why I'm building financial strength to gain admittance into college right now.

What happens when India becomes innovative because they possess the technology jobs and workforce to support it? We'll be the ones caring about making a dollar. The ratio of international students studying tech and science classes in America is 50:50 -- internationals / American citizens.

My point: Out-sourcing is beneficial from the corporate point-of-view, but not for the common working middle-class person. Businesses get their cheaper labor and freedom of re-investment while the cheap laborers get their jobs. What about America's middle and lower classes though? Do they not deserve a job, a method of supporting their life-style and the ability to pay their taxes and so on? I don't mind some out-sourcing, but when it runs rampant, it's detrimental.

Your vote wasn't washed down the drain. Your vote was counted. I voted for Kerry (even though I am a Republican). I'm not angry, I've just moved on. I'd think that Bush has heard my vote. He wants to do everything in his power to increase his approval rating in the upcoming years.

I'm a registered independent and this was my first time voting. I generally lean to the right, but lately I've been a little upset with the republicans. Oddly, I fancy imperialistic views (in a way the US is the modern Rome, only not as brutal and shrewd).

Bush better try hard to impress me. I still have a little hope for him. He knows what he needs to do, too. It just sucks so much 'cause both Bush and Kerry are douche bags and they're the only real options.

Um, yeah.

nah... its over. in light of the 2000 fiasco, none of the networks have the balls to give bush iowa, new mexico, ohio, and nevada where he has clearly won.
