A United Nations forum on Thursday passed a resolution condemning "defamation of religion" as a human rights violation, despite wide concerns that it could be used to justify curbs on free speech in Muslim countries.

The U.N. Human Rights Council adopted the non-binding text, proposed by Pakistan on behalf of Islamic states, with a vote of 23 states in favor and 11 against, with 13 abstentions.

This isn't definitive yet. The human rights commission passed it, but the member states haven't. There's a summit next month in Geneva where it very likely won't pass. Afaik only the Muslim countries and the Vatican support it.

You've proclaimed in the title that this has happened, yet when the post is read it turns out to not be so, and as Shakermaker points out fairly unlikely to become official after all. i find it funny to make more alarmist and controversial titles...get's more attention, but i agree with you that it was a bit misinformative in this case. so i apologize.
but it's not like i don't post the whole thing so you can judge by yourself. and besides...the UN is really lame at times, so i wouldn't be surprised if they actually banned it.
