Wish I was smart enough to understand what you just said The Thing..

Translation: Your computer is now obsolete.

This kicks ass. I'm sure theres another 5 years before this stuff hits the market, but it sounds like it could help the industry surpass Moore's law by a longshot.

Games. Will. Rock.

But its kinda scary to think what that kind of computing power can do in the wrong hands..

I wonder how much heat it generates.

"crossbar latch"
Great name.

How about... "Hyper-pulse spectrometer field flux inducer"! :D

nono... HYPERwatts! oh.. or NANOwatts, they sound even cooler... ohh.. NANOHYPERwatts!!

Seriously, why can't I have a job naming scientific advances? :naughty:

I still say optical processors are the way to go.

Almost speed of light computing....they would bearly put out any heat.Heck...motherboards would be way smaller due to using light to carry info instead of electrical signals.

I can just imagine: instead of TV, it would be telohypercoolwattsoundandpicturemajigger.

I don't understand what I just said either. ;)

what's the human brain equivalent of the capacitor?

human brain is about a 5 mhz computer

when dealing with math, probably,

but when dealing with more abstract things, it's unparalled by current computers.

yes, but can your brain run HL2 at 70fps with anti-aliasing turned on high?
Man, that would be sweet for those really boring times where you're just sitting around.

My imagination is better than HL2.

I can play it at a resolution of <my vision span> with antialiasing turned to <about 14/20 vision> at <a very high number> FPS.

Beat that!

Lucky bastard.. i hate my imagination

Does anyone else have the problem where when you imagine something, random parts will fall off? Or be put on backwards? And you cant imagine them back into place.. it really pisses me off...

shit yeah ! ..... like i want my day dream or whatever it is to go a certain way coz of a mistake and then it doesnt work :S i think its the brain equivalant of the bsod

Because then it would take 15 minutes and a dictionary to tell someone how to use a toaster :hmph:.

I sometimes start imagining a sound playing in my head thats really repetative and i can't for the life of me change the sound to something slightly different! :O I have to just stop thinking about the sound!.

About FPS... What "FPS" does the human eye "run" at?:p I've always wondered, saw on Discovery about some poor chap that was in a car accident, her brain ****ed up, she only got a image sent to her brain like once every third second :\ Imagine what a handicap that acctually is.:O

there was a thread about this ages back, but supposedly the human eye can see an infinite amount of fps, not being able to actually judge the fps of the picture, but can tell a difference between two images at different fps, say 150 and 200.

and the human transisters are neurons.

Lag!!!

how about terawatts! :S

there are actually names after all the giga, tera, peta, and beyond. cant think of the ones past peta, though one is exa, and one is yotta or something like that. it was in a maxiumum pc mag :p
