Just for a different topic - How long do you think it will be in years untill the world brings upon itself another major conflict or massive change in political life on a world scale - or even a massive change in world culture and thought?

Poll is flawed, I would assume at least a couple of decades will pass for that happens.

100 Years or so, but not the end of humanity, maybe just an extremely terrible incident which kills a good amount of the population

I am so glad this wasn't an Apocalypse-themed thread.

[edit] and 10-14 years is more likely than "never" :p

Ask again but this time pretend there is no religion...

my answer would be....not until the universe dies?

As soon as we start inhabit anting other celestial bodies, I dont really see an end to humanity anytime soon. That excludes events such as a supernova or what have you.

within the next hundred years

possibly in five years, one month, and one day

The poll's a bit stupid. All those ranges are REALLY close.

It just so happens that I think a big change might be coming extremely soon. But even so, I was thinking more within the next fifty years...

No, sooner. I've been relatively confident for years that a paradigm shift one of sort or another (although I don't really think apocalyptic) is imminent, within the next decade or so.

Yup, it probably won't end us. But a change is in store.

Bear in mind that that's probably just wishful thinking.

lol, I like the abrupt difference between 14 years and never.

Within the next two decades. Hopefully. If I get too much older than 40-something I won't be much use combating zombies. Or aliens. And it will be one or the other.

Weird, I took a nap after posting in this thread and had an extremely detailed apocalyptic dream that I remember most of, except I'm not sure exactly why it was an apocalypse, or what happened, just that shit was f*cked.

There was an emotional crying scene and also a very pornographic sex scene. Weird dream.

Thread. sucks.

Poll should be logarithmic:
This year
This Decade
This Century
This millenium
This 10,000 years
This 100,000 years

etc.

for the "end of the world"

You know, every single time a person has been asked that question, they've said "10 years" (Or something around that)...

10 years ago they said that, and we're still here! and it goes farther and farther

Answer your question?

Lol..do you people really think the world that's been around for 6 billion years and suffered more asteroid strikes and natural disasters than I care to count is suddenly ending in the next decade?

i think he meant human civilization

US ---> IRAN

RUSSIA, SYRIA, IRAN, N.KOREA, CHINA ---> US

Game over.

Badly worded on my behalf... I was more meaning a massise shift in the political world or the cultural world.

The poll options should of incorporated a wider range in years.

End of the world is really a poor choice of wording. Makes it seem like the Earth is going to explode or something ridiculous.

You know, as somebody has already mentioned...every time this question is asked to anyone throughout history, most people answer "soon", within a few years, etc. There's always some sort of discourd in the world that causes someone to answer with a rather bleak outlook. We're not immune.

Again, as someone has mentioned, I also think we're looking at a major shift of some sort very soon. Probably in the form of another major massive world-wide conflict. It's pretty sad that we just can't learn our lessons throughout history.

my answer would be....not until the universe dies?

Well we could just escape into another Universe perhaps...

So that would make it...not untill the multiverse dies D:

The biggest change that will affect mostof us, which will most likely happen within the next decade or two is the continued depreciation of the pound and the dollar. Which any half wit can see is designed to introduce the new Amero currency to North America and force the UK into adopting the Euro.

Eventually both europe and the Americas, along with the majority of the rest of the world will be pressured into adopting a world currency.

For a true end of the world, I put never since it will probably be centuries from now. For a world changing event... ill just say 50ish years.

As many have said, way too limited ranges...
While I could see something big happening in the next fifteen, it's far more likely to be he next fifty.

@ Above, I really hope *something* interesting happens in 2012 along those lines. It would be crazy if one of those end of the world dates actually came true. EDIT: That sounded really sadistic. But then, if its the end of the world, it might as well be cool.

EDIT: PS, the world will eventually end. Our sun will not last forever.

every year is supposed to be the end of the world, according to some religious moron

The poll needs more options, and a cleared definition of "world" and "end".

Probably in about 50 more years or so.
Maybe even less if we run out of oil and then the entire world gets thrown into anarchy.

Luckily, I'll be dead in a motorcycle accident at which time. Well, a car-crash is probably more plausible. By the way, am I the only one thinking that the people who think the world's gonna collapse in 50 years are just a tiny bit paranoid?

Not particularly. The current state of things is not very promising, and as individuals and a race we have a tendency to ignore things like collapse until they're right on top of us. I don't know if some social or political cataclysm is going to happen in the next fifty years but I wouldn't be too terribly surprised if it did.

Well, France will be a nice place in 50 years. Those who know a little about the demographics of France know what I mean by that.
