Episode 2 delayed?

Sorry, guys, I don't know if it's already been posted. I just read the article on Half-Life2.PL and they said Doug answered them why EP2 was delayed again.

He wrote they're working on new shaders and that EP2 is going to like even better than Crysis. And "you will understand everything when you see the new trailers, trust me".

Better than Crysis? I will never be able to run that. And it sucks to know you're not fully experiencing Half Life. However it's good to know Source being able to kick Cry Engine 2's digital ass. I want those trailers NOW!
 
Hopefully they're bringing the gameplay up to date. Run n gun, strafing out to take shots at enemies that stand still in the wide open just feels goofy now after playing games like Graw and Gears of War.
 
So we just have to hope that since next summer they will not have another brilliant idea to apply to EP2 or it will be delayed again untill Christmas. And maybe that before Christmas 2007 there will be once again a complete rebuild of the game to use DirectX 10 and multithreading for the new quad core processors!!!! So we can reasonably hope that the game will be released for the first quarter of 2008.
I guess that valve may have another one year shift like in september 30 2003!

Now that they have a lot of games selled through Steam, and many others are coming, they don't have to bother about selling their own games to get money, so be prepared to relax and wait untill they think that the baby is perfect and ready to go.
For those who are bored and can't wait, play with the SDK, make a mod, build levels, there are so many good tools to spend thousands of hours that you won't even notice that EP2 is released!

Nie oczekiwałem żadnej bezpośredniej odpowiedzi, a raczej jakiegoś publicznego oświadczenia - myliłem się jednak! Dosłownie kilka minut temu otrzymałem odpowiedź od Douga Lombardiego, głównego marketingowca "Zaworu".

Doug Lombardi: Pracujemy nad nowymi shaderami. Jeżeli powiedzieliśmy, że gra będzie wyglądała lepiej niż Crysis, to tak będzie, zaufaj mi. Kiedy zobaczysz nowe, przygotowane przez nas zwiastuny, wszystko zrozumiesz.

Z tej krótkiej wypowiedzi można wyciągnąć ciekawe informacje: Po pierwsze, Episode Two będzie wyglądał naprawdę świetnie, a po drugie, już niedługo będziemy mogli zachwycać się nowymi zwiastunami.

Aby dowiedzieć się więcej o Episode Two, zajrzyj na forum!

Man Valve please stop releasing teasers, gameplay videos, and plot elements until you have a solid release date on the game. You're great at a lot of things, but you've been doing this since HL1 and it is getting old. I would rather see a post on the internet linking new videos and interviews on HL and then at the end be like "and by the way this game in coming out in X weeks (or months)" and then it actually happen. Hell, even if Valve released videos and was like "Oh, by the way Episode 2 will be available tomorrow" I would be happier.

The news on hl2.pl says that he(znaczy) emailed VALVe asking why Episode 2 was delayed - and he wasn't expecting any real answer. But Doug Lombardi emailed back saying something about Crysis... I guess wlodi's explanation does it for that. And the rest is just his own thoughts and spacefillers... I guess.

Yay for polish -> english translators on the internet.

They haven't released screens showing these new effects that they claim will make EP2 look better than Crysis. Hence the delay.

Although, in reality, I doubt it will look better than Crysis. But then, Crysis is only technically good; stylistically, I dislike it.

While Ep2 is really good looking when seen in action in real time, I'm not sure if you could compare it to Crysis yet... Give it some time though and in the long run, Source will be better than Crysis.
