Episode 3 Suggestion Thread Wants/Don't want

Want - Big stupid boss.

Fighting boss is fun and gives a sense of achievement.
The game doesn't have to end with a boss fight, but there should be boss fight.

Want:

-Mossman, and for her to be a sidekick. There's some gameplay innovation right there.

-Arctic Zombies. Come on, this is the Arctic - think The Thing. "It isn't Bennings!"

-Breen acknowledgment. Can somebody please care?

-Aperture Androids!

-Snow storms.

-Aperture Androids!

-Snow storms.

Add some Barney and we're all set.

WANT:

- More about GMan's motivations.

- More solo playing, like the old Half-Life 1.

- At least a new enemy, and maybe a new weapon too (not necessarily the Portal Gun).

- Nice arctic landscapes.

- A few more elaborated puzzles, physics or not.

- A coherent and surprising ending for the story arc.

DON'T WANT:

- Lots of zombies.

Want:

* New weapons

* A snowball fight

* Harder enemies

* Pilot a hunter-chopper

* More gman

* More breen

* Glimpse to the might of the Combine

* Fun!

Dont want:

= Having to walk half of the game

= Entire zombie/ant lion chapters

= Simple physic see-saw puzzles

= A long release time.

I like your ideas because they are simple and actually doable.

Snow storms could provide both amazing scenery and gameplay challenges. Mossman could help you in puzzles and\or by using aperture science equipment in combat (maybe she could provide some scientific know how and assistance in dealing with advisors...)

I would add:

some improvements on combine troopers- and by that I mean giving them new manuvers, abilities (like crouching and grappling hooking down the roofs in episode one), stealth elites (ala human assassins), rocket launcher usage

Although Dr. Mossman would be very informative like telling Gordon what has to do, etc. I think as a whole, she'd make a terrible sidekick.

I'm sure she doesn't know how to fire a gun. She's just a woman of science, not a rebel fighter like Alyx or a mercenary like Dr. Freeman. She wouldn't know to take the safety off. Or if she were to reload a gun, she'd forget to cock the gun to put a bullet (projectile) into the firing chamber. As a result, she would be K.I.A.

Lets leave Alyx as the primary side kick, yeah? ;)

They should take a cue from Metal Gear Solid 3 and have a section where you cross an empty snowy plain for 10 minutes while some jazzy pop song plays in the background.

What I want:

To see more of the G-MAN
Nice Open Enviroments
GlaDos & Chell ( Some people think Portal was before Half Life so urhm :smoking: )
I also want pretty much everything Valve has given us, and more!

More hunters and soldier sequences
Alyx going apeshit on combines because she's pissed
Alyx getting even more attached to gordon, and maybe another one of those adorable alyx trying to be funny scenes.

All i can think of for now...

Engine enhancements are a must... maybe valve can put in an Ultra Quality for us high end computer users?

WANT:

- Change in Alyx's outfit. Doesn't have to be major, but we're in the arctic. Put something on, girl.

- New weapon. A proper one. Preferably something badass.

- More enemies, although I'm assuming they'll deliver.

- A few rays of light shed on the G-Man's mysterious scheme.

- I want Breen. This is a must.

- Gordon/Alyx romance. Nothing obtrusive. It doesn't even have to end with a kiss or anything. Just acknowledge it.

DO NOT WANT:

- Zombie sections. I don't mind a few here or there, or maybe a bit in the beginning. But they should be phased out entirely by the time we hit the Borealis.

- No ASHPD. Unless Valve comes up with a miracle method for implementing it without sucking, it's gotta stay out.

- No big stupid bosses, please. This is 2008.

The only thing missing from this is the return of Barney. Otherwise, perfect.

Wants: Pheropods, i want my antlion pets back. Controling acidlions would be cool too. Maybe a new warrior antlion, or an enemy of the antlions kinda like ants vs termites in real life.
More epic fights with dog
Snowmobile versus other combine snowmobile fight.
Don't want: Chased by chopper(They don't fly very well in blizzards)
Zombie vorts
Electrified water puzzles.

I would like alyx to be removed for the middle part of the game. I liked the idea of breaking into the citadel to save her and Eli, so maybe something that resembles that.
Also,
-Epic avalanche. Get traped for 5 min in a cottage or something.

In a cottage. duh.
In there you get some revelation. Its just an excuse to see the awesome avalanche up close.

Wants
-Constant companion D0G

-Rebel Zombies

-New Synth (like a snow-capable Strider, possibly a Scorpion)

-Many more new enemies (Zombies, Combine hybrids)

-More Vorts

-More Easter-Egg conversation cutscenes (like the White Forest AR2 debate)

-Mountain climbing whilst being pursued by a Combine army (can you imagine how badass that would be, reaching a safe ledge to see an area which you were a few minutes ago getting blown up with awesome snow effects by a Strider's beam)

-New weapons, flamethrower all the way.

-Advisor combat (they could come up with some seriously awesome music for that scene)

-Borealis space-time-continuum-twisting 'splosion

Don't want
-same old Refugee Zombies (in the snow...?)

-Lack of new things

Ability to ride G-Man's briefcase (no, I won't say Alyx).

Wants:

- The Resistance to have some more varied voice-overs and appearances, and a change of gear a bit here and there; mix it up a little, too. One here, another differently armoured there. It's not hard, Valve, and it should probably happen soon; same with the next point.

- The Zombies to quite being so damn gender-biased, and only akin to jumping on the ****ers with white work shirts and blue jeans. It's not hard, Valve. I'm sure you're capable. Both this and the above points are getting harder to swallow with each passing glance.

- Like, smarter AI would be great, on both sides of the fence. The combine are dumb-asses TBH, and the on-field allies aren't too bright. Take a pointer from the enemies in HL1; take a huge pointer in fact.

- Moar baddies. Moar weapons.

Other than that: I'm confident we'll get an ace product, but if I see a refugee Zombie in the "Arctic", I'll give, like, a really deep sigh or something. I don't understand some of the decisions they make. Maybe there's a reason for the all-male head-humping, and the attraction to refugees or something. Oh wait, the Zombines aren't refugees (shit, I mean what about the CP, or the Elites?). I mean, is it really that difficult to do? Well, I guess you'd want to give the female Zombies a new voice-over of screams and the such.

Same irks, generally, with the Resista-- I mean, clones. Maybe there are reasons; I just don't see how such a meticulous and detail-oriented group of people would ignore that kind of thing without a reason. Of course, they did slap some glow and an additional poison attack on an Antlion Guard and call it the Ancient Guardian. Just a bit aggrivating and perplexing is all.

Specifically: the HECU troops and the Black Ops. I know you're not referring to them as the grunts, or we were playing completely seperate games. They were much smarter, much more efficient, and much more difficult to take out than the Combine. This coming from an older game, too, which doesn't make much sense.

The only reason the HECU troops felt more intelligent is because they had more health and ran faster, so they actually stayed alive long enough for their AI to take effect.

I think that they should take Alyx's Ep.1/Ep.2 AI and just implement it onto all Combine and Rebel troops. Again her intelligence might seem high because of her invincibility, but she just seems to respond to enemies and threats much faster and more effectively than other characters.

Don't want

Sequnces that go so slow that the dialogue doesn't run at all(i'm looking at you g-man sequence and finale).

you know... There is this button.

A very usefull button.

A button in the options section.

Called hard mode.

Actually, given the scenarios, the AI in HL2 seems even smarter than the ones in HL1. For a quick example, just try out Highway 17, Under The Radar, Riding Shotgun, or some other firefight heavy chapter on hard. It is pretty much like HL1 on Medium, but more balanced and whatnot.

Their AI's suck. Horribly; it's a sad truth. What is difficulty going to do, anyway: give them more health, and amp their numbers up or something; flood me with loads more of the idiots and give them a health boost? Seriously, no thanks; that's not giving me intelligent enemy AI, that's just giving me a pain in the neck. I hate that, and a lot of devs or guilty of it.

Parsimoniously, Valve: their AI's could use a good deal of work. Improve their interaction with one another, give them some great maneuvers and tactics; give me a good, challanging firefight with some damn clever cyborgs. They've been getting progressively better with each Episode, but they're still not quite there yet. Just keep it going, Valve.

I play HL2 on hard, BTW, as I do with most games. Maybe Valve actually does balance the difficulty with enemies on their AI fronts, I know they do with the puzzles and everything else, and they're not a lazy bunch. Hell, I'd hate to see the Combine on easy, then. Plz.

I think what te combine need are more animations, right now it feels like i'am fighting a plank they don't look smart. Just look at F.E.A.R it's AI is sorta like Valves, but the deveopers made them seem smarter, they can jump over barriers, crawl and knock over objects and hide behind them. There is alot more movement and they work more as a team than the combine. Overall the whole Combine battle animations need to be redone.

more alyx
more uber-gravity gun (like in ep1)
new weapons
somethin to do with portal but NO portal gun
no more main character deaths
longer game
more gman
no antlions
more Dog

more synths, i want to see some crab synths tear some rebels apart like they were wet pieces of paper. Or maybe more hunter variants

I agree the AI could do with a rehaul, and the general enemy behaviour overall for that matter.
