Episode 3 Suggestion Thread Wants/Don't want

Well to quote Wikipedia:

Prima's official stategy guide indicates that they serve a heavy infantry role as the backbone of the Combine's ground forces.

They'd also be more suited to the arctic environment with their large contact area. Striders would just sink...

It depends on how deep the snow is. Striders should be able to struggle through it, but it would not be easy.

In Half-Life universe it snow doesn't matter a shit, it will be just flat 2D-snow like in cs_office and dod_kalt. Nothing impressing. So Striders can freely walk there.

Makes me disappointed if I think that way. Be optimistic!

Well, valve did make a great and new particle effect system for ep2.

when was counter-strike or DOD a part of the half-life universe?

I've seen some awesome illegal videos which show exactly what that system can do. I'm sure dynamic snow isn't beyond it.

That isn't illegal. That was called Source Particle Benchmark.
Valve give it to some ppls who were at Valve presentations.

It did look kinda wierd when a Hunter or a Stider were bleeding, IMO Bioshock had a a better particle system. Water, fire, and the blood effects we're pretty awesome in Bioshock.

I don't know if I posted in this thread but as for what I want in Episode 3:

Cool snow effects
Some new enemies
I want more crossbow rounds available
Slightly less Zombies/Headcrabs and a bit more Combine forces in this episode
More Alyx
More G-man sequences
Breen returning
Chell making an appearance
Alyx reacting to -you know what- in a very human way (confused, befudled, don't know what to think) sort of characterization in Ep3. Not the "DUR HUR YOU KILLED MY FATHER, PEPARE TO DIE!" Yeah, alittle bit is good but not too much imo.

Also moar cake.

Want:
Scary zombie areas
Better graphics and engine

Do not want:
Alyx following me
Valve to get 'silly' with the story.

Oh, that's not what I'm talking about.

Check your PMs.

They are not part of that universe, maybe we could say DoD is because it is WW2  but they use the same Source Engine. And Source Engine isn't capable of doing realistic snow.

Trust me, there will not be snow like this:

That snow doesn't look realistic at all. :D

You mean it's not gonna be as good as a photo?

Well darn...I'm not buying it.

Striders sinking in the snow is a stupid idea.

That would be hilarious, though.

Charges wang-cannon, suddenly breaks through the crust and makes that tarzan death sound. oooooOOOooooOOOooooohhhh.

EP3 wishes

Wants;
Wail the hell out of a bunch of Advisors
Watch Dog wail the hell out of a bunch of Advisors
More Alyx
Less Zombies
Flying and driving things
Additional Weapon add-ons
Multi-function Grav Gun (could turn blue and suck Advisors in and throw them against the wall with a big gooey splat)
Better trip mines, like in HL1
Some of the old enemies back from HL1
More Combine battles

Wants
longer game (~2x ep.2)
harder overall game
more difficult puzzles with multiple solutions
significant story development (with some mind blowing stuff)
dynamic snow environment
more varied use of weapons (especially crowbar - I'd love it if the claws could just stick into an enemy then when you pull it out it leaves a sick wound gushing a fountain of blood a la Kill Bill style)
new weapon (sniper rifle or flame thrower would be great)
more hunters that are a bit smarter and use their impaling attack like when they got Alyx
more Alyx - emotionally unstable/vulnerable and unpredictable. also not as strong
new enemies
ability to kill advisors
huge battles against combine with many allies, barney, vorts, etc...
decisions which will impact the ending (multiple ending possibilities)

Don't Want
portal gun
glados
antlions

good list, that would be a agme i'd enjoy

im just intrested in knowing why you dont want the portal gun and glados?

:thumbs down:

Agreed to the extent that I would voluntarily kill those who raise it again if given the command to do so. In a metaphoric sense.

What would I want in an ending? Some kind of great reveal of motives and a great confrontation of the Vorts, the G-Man and the human expedition at the Borealis, which results in someone (such as Alyx) getting killed/injured/stasisized just as the combine approach, leaving only the option of activating the Borealis teleporting system sending everybody to the Combine overworld. Here, we find the particular far side locale that the combine have been using to send their troops to Earth. The G-Man now conspires with the Advisors alerting them to your presence, and so you must avoid their troops as much as possible as you make your way to the far side portal control station, blowing it up, causing yet another monologue with either the Vortigaunts or the G-Man as you are now locked away again partially reminiscent of the ending of Half-Life 2.

Or something like that.

if we have the grav gun, and the gluon gun we will get mixed up with the acronym gg. that doesn't bother me!

No antlions
To pump lead into advisors
Return of barney definitly
NEED zombie level
more dificult physics challenges.

yeah but they did say aperture science was in the half life world. im guessing its got something to do with ep3 or hl3/4
Yes, Aperture Science is in the Half-Life world. Yes, they obviously have something to do with EP3 at the very least, because the Borealis is owned by Aperture Science. That does not necessarily mean GLaDOS and the portal gun will be in EP3 (although GLaDOS being in EP3 is possible- we DO see mention of her in the Borealis design schematics if I remember correctly.) There are several reasons as to why we probably won't see a portal gun in EP3, but I'll stop here.

Freeman-Avatar-Chain BROKEN!
Oh noez!!

And yeah, sticking the Portal world in Half-Life straight off is just a big no. Sure, it's inevitably going to happen at some point, but doing it in Episode Three is just going to be really cheesy. I don't have a problem if they entwine the story, as they're really good at doing that.

It's the Portal Gun GLaDOS I have a problem with.

GLaDOS is dead! It'd be like Breen coming back from the fucking dead. /topic

We have enough to play with with the gravity gun without sticking a portal gun in, as well. Next thing we'll know is they'll have stuck a Chrono gun in Half-Life 3 so now we can change time too!
Woot! I can alter gravity, time and space! Yay...!
