Usually I'm just content to wait for a game to come out, knowing there is alot to put in if the game is going to have any merit, but, come on, how many years has it been since HL2 and ep 1 came out? I mean damn how hard is it valve to make an expansion on something? you suck valve, this is just a freakin joke. also I know this will be locked by the mediators, which also is a joke, this has just gone beyond stupid, and people should be allowed to have their say, and this is mine, an im not alone, so flame if you want its not like i give a crap
I am not buying this game, or any future releases from Valve, nor are any of my friends. an expansion DOES NOT take this long to come out, what is the problem?? who gives a shit about portal? just get us the game we were supposed to have 2 years ago!! then maybe we can play Ep 3 in 2014!

The game is still in development because the developer wants to make sure the product they are building is perfect for the customer. You are the customer. You are going to buy this product. They want that product perfect. They don't delay it to spite; they aren't lazy, they aren't delaying the game to rofl in your face and throw things at you whilst you post drivel such as this. If the end product is being shaped into something of quality so that your money doesn't go to waste, who in the **** are you to complain? Are you sitting on your hands with absolutely nothing to do until the game is released? Is your life that mundane?

Its been a year a bit and a bit since EP1 came out, not two years, and who gives a **** about Portal? I think you will find large majority of this forum do. Developers can get their games out on time but they aren't perfect, they are usually average, and in the long run, it wasn't worth rushing it.

Ask yourself this, would you rather Valve rush their games and get them out earlier, and play an average game and feel that you have wasted your money, or for them to keep putting it off until every aspect of their game is perfect. The answer is, that at the end of the day, it ****ing well worth the wait.

You should get some other hobbies or something, kinda laughable that someone gets this pissed off just because they cant wait for a pissing game to come out.

That probably warrants a ban, but I'll let it slip. I don't recall saying you couldn't post what you think? Why do you think this thread is open? Well, there's not much I can say that everyone else probably isn't thinking anyway. It's hard to argue with someone who won't even respond to anyone's points. But just so you know, boycotting a game because it took ages to come out is just childish sulking at it's worse. Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if you turn out to be eight.
 
Could you please explain why exactly Valve should rush an unfinished game out the gate? Good games take time to make.

It's a bit more than an expansion, it's in a half-way house between expansion and new game. There's new technology, new art, new enemies, etc.

If you don't care about Portal, then there's something wrong with you.

Just have some patience. Bioshock is coming out at the end of the month, and there's lots of other good games coming. Just play something else! Ep2 will rock when it comes out.
 
If you're angry because Valve found a way to get near-perfect games to you quicker, then maybe you don't deserve to play them. Go stay in your corner.

Do you have a terminal disease because of which you are going to die before the release date( its November now isn't it? I lost track)? Otherwise there is really no point in ranting like this. Sure it can be frustrating but we know Valve are perfectionists and they will not put any game into the market that doesn't meet their standards. And come on, its not like there aren't any other good games coming out on the near future!! (Bioshock, Stranglehold etc etc)

Maybe you prefer HL being given the EA treatment. Half Life 200X, Simcity 17, Half Life: Robotic Pets, Half Life: Vacation.....

The company that made Half-Life and Half-Life 2, along with building Steam from the ground up is giving you 5 video games for the price of one. Fine, pass up a good deal like that, im sure your 50 bucks won't really be that missed, nor the other few people who "wont be buying this game". my ass, you'll all end up getting it in the end.

Agreed! A year to make Episode 1 and another year to make Episode 2, portal, while working on TFC2 and CSS and DODS and STEAM and BUG FIXES and L4D AND how can i forget the ENGINE itself! With what? How many people are at Valve again? Hummm think about it.
