Eq2

I heard the instanced zones are really hard and I group is required, too bad they weren't in the beta.
They were... I spent hours in one instance called the Deadmines... it was extremely cool... no way you can do it without a group, either...

Anyone who says WoW's graphics suck needs to see the game in motion. The graphical style fits the game SO perfectly, that any other style would hinder the immersion factor.

Blizzard is capable of way better, so it's not like they couldn't have done it. Just look at their cutscene movies, those are easily the best (or some of) CGI cutscenes I've ever seen put out.

The graphics are pretty bad, but still look good at the same time...IDK why they just do. Everything looks right, like the way it should.

Exactly. There are graphical features left to be done, though. Such as the water.

EQ2 isn't done with its graphics either, they are still working on adding more realstic textures to characters skin and hair.

Someone is a EQ fanboy... calm down killer, it will be ok.

So it is ok to base the failure of one game on the success of another? SWG was a rushed out POS that had hardly any content and more bugs than any MMO ever. EverQuest has been around for 5 years, had constant updates, a engine upgrade, and stilll brings in millions. They are 2 different games. I guess I should have based the decision to buy Half-life or not on the millions of pinball games Sierra puts out.

Did I say they were the same game... I just said I hope the lands dont end up like SWG's barren world... I didnt say it WAS like EQ2

Well at least EQ has some kind of history with the MMORPG genre. They know how to do it. I haven't played WoW or EQ2, but i'll guess they'll both be the A+ of MMORPGs when they're released. It just depends which one you prefer.

I'm in the EQ2 beta and it rocks. so NERRRR! I'd like to compare it to WoW but I'm not in North America and hence couldn't get into the stress test.

Hey B.calhoun! by the time theyre out youl have got to sample WoW open beta :) try and save decisions untill then

Yeah i definatly am looking forward to trying WoW. Aswell as EQ ;)

And im just curious, how many of you think that you'll be playing EQ2 instead of WoW?

I know I won't be playing EQ2 over WoW. Does that count? :p
I wouldn't mind beta testing it, though. But, I have absolutely zero intention of ever buying it, or paying a monthly fee for it.

WoW, on the other hand.. /me preorders the CE and laughs evily

Sure does count! :D

lol anyway, is it just cause you really like WoW or you dont like EQ2?

The former with a bit of the latter. I played EQ for a brief period (1 month), didn't really interest me. I played WoW for 10 days (stress test), and I was hooked.

Hmm.. :D

EQ2 looks cool and all, but on another level, it looks bland and unexciting. The character models art direction doesn't mix with the world art direction, IMO.

EQ2 won't be anything like EQ1, well...it will be a little bit a like but most of the EQ1 team has moved on or is still working on EQ1. I wouldn't base your opinions too much on EQ1. If you didn't like EQ I think it is just because you didn't give it enough time, or you were just a n00b running around aimlessly not knowing what was going on :p

Ah, i really disagree though. The detail in this game looks amazing and with the extensive landscapes with interesting sites i feel i will get hooked with this game. And i got hooked to FFXI for a month before i came to my senses and cancelled the account. EQ2 will be a real big hit IMO.

WoW on the other hand is looking great, but with a mere 8 races and 9 classes as opposed to EQ2's 15 (16 soon after release) plus the 6 classes that each come with nine subclasses (i dont know how or if the WoW subclasses work, enlighten me if you will) i think EQ2 will have alot more originality.

WoW could use a few extra classes, and maybe another race. Although, they're kinda running out of races.. ZERG! They should put Zerg in! ;) jk

Anyhow.. yeah, WoW's customization isn't so huge. I wish it was, but it's not. You get like, 10 choices for 5 parts of your body, and then you can pick male or female. As far as I can tell, there's no difference between a Tauren Druid and a Night Elf Druid. Which is sad too.

There are no subclasses in WoW, any all the classes play pretty much the same...but they are all unique and play differently from eachother.

Thats a big downside in my opinion. I also love A LOT of customization to be done on your character, so everyonne is different.

I like that too, that is why I am going to be playing one of the least played races with a not too popular class :)

I can't wait for EQ2. I sure hope I get into the US beta... I have played the WoW Stresstest, and it was a lot of fun, but I don't think that it'll compare to EQ2. SOE has experience in making successful MMOG's and I'm sure EQ2 will no doubt follow that trend.

BTW, when is the boat gonna get here?

Not to sabotage your plan and become the same lol but what do you have in mind?

I have no idea what my name is going to be, I went with a randomly generated one for my EQ monk, Aanlaorn. I think I might use the name generator again, but then there are always names similar to yours.

Votes: 15

What do you mean?

I would love to get into the EQ2 beta, there is no reason not too. Just saying im happy with WoW is just dumb. EQ2 may very well beat the heck out of any mmo on the market including WoW. Anyhow, who knows, we will see soon enough.

not much info on the hero classes has been released. but when you reach the level requirement, you can get a quest from an NPC.
depending on your race/class you can be a different hero class.

but.... thats when the info blizzard gave stopped.
