Hi, I just got the satellite internet yesterday from Hughes Net and turns out my computer does not have an ethernet card, just a networking card. I was looking around on the internet to see what I needed to get and I have no idea. I found a thing called an adapter that goes from USB to ethernet and wondered if those would work so that I wouldn't have to open the computer up. Either way could someone please tell me exactly what I need to get because I am completely clueless. Thanks.

I'm sorry I can't help you because you don't have enough question marks in the thread title. :p

I've never heard of a modern networking card that wasn't an ethernet card. This is what an ethernet port looks like, see if you can find it at the back of your computer.

If not just walk into any decent computer store and ask for one although keep in mind that if you buy one over the counter you are going to have to install it yourself.

If you are on the internet, and you are not using dial-up, then you already have Ethernet.

Just plug that shit in dude.

WRONG. He could have a USB modem / router.

While in all likeliness his network card IS an Ethernet card - unless his PC is really old - the statement you made is completely wrong.

Why do you think the network adapter built onto the board is not Ethernet? Did Hughes Net tell you that what you have will not work? Any extra info?

What brand and model is the PC or motherboard that you have?

Not completely, just with a hole or two. ;)
Instead of flaming someone, why not be constructive?
