Well, Its a little early, but its litrally 15minutes and I set of to go pickup my Wii. They are having a midnight launch party at Gamestation and well, I'm SOOO EXCITED! Its like been a little kid again, lol.

OHHH HOW CAN I PASS THIS NEXT 15minutes!

Anyone else going out soon to pickup there Wii? I know a lot of my friends are having to wait until tomorrow as the stores they pre-ordered from are not opening at midnight :D Poor them, I'm not sleeping for DAYS!

Well, you can play the 3D Missile game for 15 minutes and then pray they port it over to Wii :D

Post how many the store had in stock, please. I was talking to my Art teacher today and she ordered one from Play for her boyfreind but, being a huge, internation site-thing, they are up to their necks in orders, so it wouldn't arrive til January or something. I told her that in America people had been getting Wii's on the door with no pre-orders, so I said she should try sometime next week for one manually.

Speaking of Play.com; they have Twilight Princess down for release on the Gamecube tomorrow. I SERIOUSLY hope it does, but I think it's just a mistake and that I will get it next week. No biggie, but if by some strange sourcery it arrives tomorrow...

Oh.

:D

mine comes in before christmas, but i might not get it for a while. my gf's coming back from travelling so i want to use the money to spoil her instead. plus christmas presents require a painfully large investment.

I've been a Wii-fapping for the past two forum-down days. In 24 hours time, I could very well be 7 hours into Zelda. Except I won't be because I'm having a Wii party. Sports, Play and Red Steel all come above Zelda, sadly. Although I reckon we'll all have a quick jog about the opening areas of TP.

Can't freaking wait. The few lessons I have at school tomorrow are going to go soo slowly. Hopefully they'll be relatively relaxed as it's so close to Christmas and I can lie back and think of Wii.

Today they had a demo pod set up in game, but one of our number who is coming to the Wii party wasn't with us, so we all showed spectacular restraint and didn't play, because we want to lose our Wii-ginity together.

One of my mate'll be picking one up tomorrow with Twighlight Princess. I'm afraid he'll forget to eat.

GAME let me down. :(

Oh well, I'll still have it before Christmas. Hopefully.

Snap.

Game are delivering my spare controller I orderd tomorrow, lol, won't be getting console though. :(

I'm going to queue down my local toy store soon. I can't sleep so I thought I'd come on here :p
They have no free ones left for pre-order, but they're having 8 in for first come first served. Drove down a few times during the night and no queue has formed. I play to be in the front of the queue :)

Played it today at my local Gamestation. It was amazing! Better than I had imagined. Nintendo have really pulled off something amazing. The Nintendo reps were really friendly and let me and my friends have lots of games on Wii Sports. I was amazed at how many people came and watched us, including the older generation/s. Really great stuff, Nintendo have done everything right this launch.

Wish me luck!

Bit off-topic, and I posted this in another forum... but hey! My impressions:

Purchased my Wii today, though I won't officially own it until Christmas. Still, it didn't stop me from testing it a bit, to see if everything was in tip-top shape. Getting it out of its casing, it definitely fits the "next-gen" appearance. So I load it up, sensor bar and remote easier to configure than I thought it would be. I checked out the Wii channels, made a Mii character (which looked a lot like me, surprisely) and popped in Wii Sports (the only game I had at the time, since Zelda was ahem.. it's a long story).

So I start a game of tennis, sitting on my bed perfectly relaxed.. and I start hitting the ball with my uber utensil of motion sensing doom. Now, I was one to scoff at those people in those videos who jumped around, swinging their arms and generally looking like dipsticks... but.. a while later (with the match at stake) I couldn't help but jump in the air, swinging the remote with ferocious contempt, eager to beat these AI controlled athlete bastards. And this was on my own (and I was sober). I can't possibly imagine the fun that could be had with this game at parties... but I can easily imagine how any person could get into this and having tons of fun.

Still, I'm quite eager to play a proper game with these controls, but I love what I've experienced so far.

I was the same when I played in a store today. I played against a Nintendo Rep at tennis. He showed me how to play and then we got into a game. I started off just casually moving my arm to hit the ball, then the rep suddenly did some powerful blast and I found my self jumping to get to the ball.

I watched other people play and they too were also really getting into it. Even the older people to play were jumping about. My dad can't wait for me to get a Wii, first thing he wants to do is play Tennis against me :D

Off to queue in about an hour. Really hope I get one.

Have fun with it :D

For me, I don't see a killer app for the Wii (I'm not the biggest Zelda fan).

It's a neat controller, but for me to go out and buy one takes a lot more than showing innovation... There needs to be application of that innovation in the games!

You can have all of the fancy controllers you want, but I won't buy until people start using the Wii controller in awesome new ways.

Well it's already made Madden different for the 1st time in about 10 iterations of that series.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion. The remote becomes like 9 different medical tools you use on patients. I would buy this game if it weren't for my absolute hatred of anime. Take the design for this game, and turn it into a "House MD" game, then I'll buy it instantly.

That's just one interesting use of the controller, for others, try any FPS or racing game on the wii.

I heard Trauma Center wasn't getting released in Europe. Is that true?

It looks good from the Gamespot video review.

Hehehe, well I'm 6hours into Zelda at the moment and its simply ****ing amazing. I would recommend not playing it with the Gamecube controler though. Its soooomuch better with the Wii Remote. It only took me around 30minutes to get used to the new controller and honestly, i can't say I want to go back to the normal ones. Its simply to good. Everything it does is made easier and much more fun. The mic on the controller is a simple touch that simply adds to much.

OH MY GOD IT ROCKS!

I'm in a tutorial now then going to the skatepark after this so I will have to wait until tonight before I can play my Wii, But dam I'm already looking forward to it.

I'm going to snoop around shops next week. Doubt I'll get one, but I've got some free time while Chrimbo shopping.

time for the brits to start putting holes in their HDTV's...... :)

Zelda didn't arrive today. :( If it doesn't arrive tomorrow then I'll just presume it was a wrongly dated thing on Play and I'll await the 15th with much anticipation.

Might go on Wind Waker in a bit... y'know, just because... :( :( :(

My pre-order with Play for Zelda got delayed, so I walked straight into a store and bought it then cancelled my pre-order... haha.

Gamecube version, or Wii? Please say the GC version as I will do the very same.

I've enjoyed monkey ball a bunch too.....lots of fun mini-games there.......

Thought as much. Ah well. Can't wait til the 15th, then.

Surely you mean 'as good as the original'? ;) (I hated no.2)

Now, if only I could find a damn component cable ..... :/

I'll definitely be buying one early next year, when all the stocks have fully replenished.

Whoever I know who has a Wii, loves it, adores it and treats it like their pet :cat:

I'm looking forward to bringing in the beer, having me mates round and competing in drunken tennis tournaments.

Picked up my Wii today, and what can I say? I love it so far. Only got Zelda and WiiSports though (I don't want to spend more money atm :)) with 2 controller sets. Me and my mates have been playing it all day! I walked passed the gaming room at my Uni and the room was full of people playing Wii (Uni got theirs on the release day too). I found one guy in the corner playing Gears Of War though :)

A little warning to all of you UK people, avoid Red Steel if at all possible. The game sucks balls. No. Don't give it a try because it *might* be fun. The controls are horrid and the gameplay sucks.

Yep. Rented it yesterday and it's boring as hell. Controls aren't "horrid" but they aren't good either.

Got my Nintendo Wii on Thursday (Aussie, got it a day before you brits) and love it, its great. Zelda is awesome, but playing on a standard def tv makes the graphics very blurry. Wii Sports is tons of fun, but Zelda is definitely where its at. I'm about 12 hours into it and i'm loving it. Its awesome.

I personally love Red Steel. It's absolutely fantastic and I prefer it to the majority of FPS games I've played on consoles over the last few years. Obviously when more FPS games come out for the Wii, Red Steel will look and feel a little stale, but as my first Wii FPS, it's really a good introduction.

I haven't had much chance to play Zelda yet because I have some friends round who are hogging Wii Sports and don't want me to spoil Zelda for them. I keep trying to kick them out, but they refuse to leave. :(

Sadly, we didn't get any spare nunchucks so we were limited to playing Sports and Play MP all night which wasn't bad as such but.. meh.

And I've got the cinema tonight and work all day tomorrow. When will I get to play Zelda? :(

While I have enjoyed Red Steel so far, I feel the controls are a bit fiddly. Especially aiming with a gun and trying to go round a corner .

I havn't played Red Steel but I did get Call of Duty, the controls at first where like WTF! THIS SUCKS! but after 30minutes I really got used to it and I don't know why. But it felt more cinematic than it does on other consoles. When you go through a building or run around on a normal console you generally look straight ahead. I found myself looking around with the controller. I can't really explain it in words its pritty hard. But it felt more like... I was there... Although tbh the graphics are poor for a port and havn't had any effort put into it to polish it for the Wii. I think they basiclly ported it got rid of the normal maps and deleted the lighting which makes finding enemys in the complex style of textures very.... hard and anoying sometimes. Its definatly better than on the other consoles but oerall it was never a good game to begin with. Call of Duty 2 is much better.
