I've been assaulted before, but the motive wasn't for stealing anything - it was to actually inflict as much harm on me as possible.

Heh. No. I usually just walk up to people with my pocket knife out, and tell them to give me their wallet and/or purse. If they don't, I walk away. If they do... I walk away.
