» Soldier - the guy with the heavy toys
» Medic - heals, revives teammates; can deploy supply stations
» Field Ops - calls in field gun artillery, rocket artillery, strategic strike missiles, air-strike uplink; deploys radar stations or defence turrets; carries ammo packs
» Engineer - builds and repairs vehicles, structures and objectives; can deploy radar stations or defence turrets
» Ranger - scout, can gather intel and disable enemy defences

What about training missions?
There will be a build-in solo missions system while you're playing on a server. Think of it as class specific secondary mini objectives, like disabling enemy defences, enemy radars or reviving a teammate. A popup will appear on the HUD letting you know what you are supposed to do. This way you will get to know the game while helping your team to achieve victory.
Fireteam leaders can assign those mini objectives manually to their fireteam members.
