Explosion in London Underground

This is just horrible. Got my fingers and toes crossed for my friends etc. (so far so good)
Without wanting to bring politics into it, it makes me more sad than angry at the prospect that it might have been al-Qaeda: There's enough Islamophobia and misunderstanding around as it is without this too.
I love this city, it's such a shame to see something like this - it's been years.

**** me, just saw paramedics doing cpr on someone as they took them out of an ambulance :/

Same, almost made me sick...

Blair's Speech was good, not too much but he said the right words.

Al Q have been nominated, but nobodies claimed.

This isn't the IRA's MO, like previously stated the IRA attack targets with plenty of warning.

This attack has been aimed to freeze London.

However this is a terrorist attack.

The most important thing is NOT to knee jerk.

NEWS: The BBC have just found a ebsite with a 200 word statement from a Euro Jihad organisation claiming responsibility, whether or no its true is another story.

I remember one or two groups claimed responsibility for 9/11 but it turned out not to be them.

12:00 British Prime Minister Tony Blair says the "barbaric" London blasts are terrorist attacks and were designed to coincide with the G8 summit in Scotland. He will return to London.

Two deaths at Algate but injured is "many" ambulance service not giving any figures.

sorry if posted earlier- just trying to catch up- so there was more than just subway blasts? markets? buses?

Two dead and 90 wounded confirmed, but I'm afraid the actual number is much higher.

6 subways and 1 bus I think

I wonder just how pre-meditated these attacks were?

What with the G8, Live 8 and the Olympic voting all turning the country inside out, a bombing on London's transportation to bring things to a halt is very unnerving.

:frown:

Well, this is just horrible. Not the thing I want to hear about when I wake up. I've managed to get hold of one of my brothers, but I can't get hold of my other one. (They both work in London) Fingers crossed.

Been frantically trying to get through to my parents and friends working in London. Most of the mobile networks seem to be down.

Fortunately, they're fine.

What now? - I know i'm not getting on a bus/tube in London for a good while.

Things are certainly going down the shitter :/

Just woken up to find all of this... this is horrible.

Theyeve shutdown a lot of the cell area for london because if they use mobile phones to detonate the bombs.

Or it could be jammed because of people calling.

****, my brother literally works around the corner from Liverpool Street station.

Washington DC and other major cities are preparing for morning opening.

WASHINGTON -- The nation's capital sent bomb-sniffing dogs and armed police officers to patrol subways and buses Thursday after a series of explosions on London transit systems.

Candace Smith, spokeswoman for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, said security was stepped up "immediately" in response to the rush-hour explosions in London.

Smith said police armed with machine guns were patrolling the city's trains and buses looking for anything suspicious. They were accompanied by bomb-sniffing dogs. Passengers were being urged to report any suspicious activity.

About 1.2 million people a day ride Washington's buses and trains.

'Casualties arriving at hospitals in double decker buses' :/

This isn't happening.

I sincerely hope all those here who have friends and family in the London area are able to get in touch with them and make sure they're O.K. :(

Everyone are trying to use their mobiles and its brining down the networks.

"3 double decker buses arrive at hospitals loaded with casualties"

:/

ugh, terrible, this is terrible, listening to 5-live now, the military heads this morning on the news says it has the hallmarks of al qaeda(sp?) or a associate cell, no warnings etc, but i'm more concerned about the casualties then who perpetrated it. Some very nasty images this morning on the news of injured people. Terrible stuff.:(

Just heard (german magazine das speigel?) al qaeda europe claiming responsibility- its an iraq retaliation.

The Sad thing is that it is.

We better hope that not many more people have died, and that London can recover quickly.
