Ok, first of all, I'm having problems with exporting in XSI. Please forgive me if other types of threads similar to this have been done billions of times, and forgive me if my problem happens to be tiny, and I haven't studied enough to work it out.
I've seen several tutorials about how exporting works using XSI, most of which say you must export an SMD file, after reading the tutorials and finding out MYSELF that I had to install another plugin through XSI named the ValveSource Plugin, which is what Ive installed already.
My problem is every time I atleast try to export a cube, or a sphere, (Which I'm not sure if its possible to export something so simple as that) the help panel at the bottom of the screen continues to tell me 'ERROR: error-nothing to import'. I don't know why it happens.
Now, the main documents created by Valve themselves don't explain a way to prevent this, as well as many other tutorials doesn't also don't explain a way to prevent this as well. What they do teach is how to actually do it, make the model, export the model, and do the rest.
But I'm stuck at the export stage. I must be doing something wrong, I can't grasp on to what it is.
I also have some questions.
When using XSI, and exporting objects into SMD files. Does the model have to be textured, and so on. Or is it possible to just export a helpless sphere model without it being textured? (I also know that StudioMDL adds a bone to one of the files)
Thanks alot.
