F.E.A.R. single-player demo to be released this Friday

just finished the demo

absolutlely intense....i love the action and it is creepy aswell

very stylish

For those who want a little challenge, try going through the demo using unarm combat only. The only thing I'm not sure will die by unarm is the heavy armor guy(the guy took 2 direct grenades and a clip of my assault rifle).

Also at the end
Does anyone know what was the thing that dropped down? Seems like a mech with 2 rocket launchers.

Edit: Is it even possible to jump through windows like the AI?

awsome stuff. holy hell i jumped the second time the little girl appeared.

MAN! THAT WAS AWESOME!

the part in the hallway at the end FREAKED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!

What was that thing in the Dream Sequence where you run down at the hallway behind the door?

I swear, that was SCARIER than MAX PAYNE DREAMS

This game violently pwns Doom III.

I am close to calling this better than HL2 also.

This game is awesome. Played the demo a couple different times with different settings to try and get it looking the best while having a good performace. I took a pic of one of the enemies where I shot his head off with the pistol. Definately getting this game when it comes out.

It is an enemy that you encounter later in the game that can cloak and is very agile.

Is there a setting to enable dismemberment or something?

if you clip them in the back of the head, that first encounter with that guy walking up the stairs away from you.. you can pop his head clean off with one pistol shot, how lovely, and now i want to do it in real life! *sarcasm*.

definately scarier and more disturbing than doom III, not quite as frightning.

its automatically on...i've shot off arms and legs a few times already

It has a lot of potential. Neat scare sequences as well. The AI seemed pretty impressive.

The game seemed to chug a lot in some spots. DOOM 3 on the other hand runs very smooth. Maybe the final version will be a little bit more optimized. What happened to the 1280X1024 resolution option?! C'mon Monolith! Is there any way I can force that resolution?

Another thing I didn't like: the gun sound effects. Not enough punch and umph! They sound like little pea shooters.

my specs are amd athlon 64 3000+, 1.25gig ram, geforce 6600gt and it runs completley fine with details cranked up to medium/high level

Needs some major optimization with the damn lighting.

Turning everything on low, My machine STILL chugs in lit areas.

This was one of the best demos ive played, all i wanted was something as scary as AvP. And it seems like this is.

Cant wait to get the full game :D

:O

Holy hell. :x

...*exhales*

I actually closed my eyes at one point. I imagined it'd be spooky, but not done so well!

I have 2 problems with this demo:

1. It eats up resources like a damned filthy pig
2. It ends too soon

Everything else is state-of-the-bloody-art. This game is tense incarnate; the combat is tense and challenging, the AI is in a whole league of it's own, it looks unbeleivably good, and it really knows how to **** with your head. I just hope it isn't a short game.

wow runs like crap, i get a annoying 1 second freeze/stutter when entering new areas, ugh, gotta drop the settings i guess...hl2/d3/fc run better for those asking on my rig on higher settings...

comp: 3.2ghz p4
gig of ddr2 ram
x800xt pci-e

all high, res 1152x864...4aa

btw is it just me or does the games aa suck, theres jaggies everywhere...

ai was cool, 1 part, whether it was scripted im not sure, but i threw a nade which blewup a loadup of shelves n stuff, the enemies were blocked from getting to me, then 1 guy crawled under the gap below the destroyed shelves while the other covered him, awesome...

I got it. Some pretty freaky parts. Some stuff is weird, which I hope will be explained once you complete the final version. But yea, scary azz game.

Man, It runs so ****ing smooth in that videoooo...
-cries-

Btw, Anyone figure out any...-ahem- cheat codes for the game yet? :D
Thats how mine runs on max settings :p I don't see how this is lagging on your guys computer... Because Hl2 lags on high more than this does for me. Not that much lag at all though maxed.

BEST DEMO EVAR!

Holy shit can't wait for full game.

Pwnz doom3

Scared me, even when I played it again and knew when everything would happen.

I waited to long on the ladder the second time comming down so when I turned around the guy was right in my face, I jumped lol. Fun stuff

someone can post screenshots?

For your pleasure, but be warned for spoilers.

Bullet time
pwnd
Alma

The settings are 1024x768, everything maxed except lighting and shadows on medium. AA is thru hardware coz I can crank it up higher (6x) than in-game (4x jag city). It stutters a lot so I hope there will be some optimising. I'll buy it nonetheless tho. I love it; great demo.

btw my sys specs. AMD 64 3500+, 2x 512MB dual channel, X850XT

It's slow for me too, and at the settings I have it at it doesn't look that much better than Doom 3. I also don't get why only the first guy's head comes off but others don't. I got a leg to come off once too, but the dismemberment doesn't seem to be very consistant. I'm still buying it though, it was pretty cool. Maybe I'll get a new video card by then.

OMFG that demo was awesome.

I'm still shakey from the dream sequence.

Dream sequence wasn't all that scary, what was really scary was when
I was comming down the ladder, heard the little girl, went back up the ladder and she was right in my face.

OMFG I usually hate being scared, but this game is an exception.

Oh and I can play the game just fine. The only thing that really phased my system was the room filled with water.

omg cant wait for the full thing !

i loved the demo , really great , worked on my machine fine ( P4 2800MHZ , Geforce 6800 Ultra ) some slow downs tho , the only thing i didnt like about the demo was the enemy sound and some of the guns , i really didnt like it

anyway this game really gonna rock

When you find the girl near the ladder didnt really scared me :p , cuz i saw a video for this level :p

Alma didnt scare me that much. The guy that suddenly appears at the bottom of the ladder was the one that gave me the biggest scare. Creepy.

-clears throat-
I just foundddddd a cheat!

Don't read this if you don't want your FEAR experience destroyed.

Press T(for chatting) and type in "god" without quotes then hit enter.
And voila! God mode! :D

Just finished the demo and Im also very impressed, graphics are great and the AI is actually fun to play against...going back for some more :)

The demo definitely rocks, but even on my system(P4 3.6 GHz, x850 XT PE, 1 Gig Ram), this game is too choppy at the highest resolution and best graphical settings.

Doom 3 runs like a charm on highest everything, though, so I am sure this will be much better optimized before release, along with adding higher resolution options.

MUCH scarier than most games, but Silent Hill 2 still haunts me with the lights out...I have a feeling this will do it too. And just in time for Halloween!
