The 2009 Constructors Champion is the Brawn GP team! Their first year in F1!

What a brilliant drive by Jenson Button at Interlogos! That's what we all wanted to see! Congratulations to Jenson. 2009 World Champion!

I'm really looking forward to the final race - this is a brand new race track isn't it? So, JB will still race and everything? So is he still awarded points, or WTF?

Yeah, there's still points awarded, it just doesn't affect the outcome of the championship (aside from possibly deciding who comes second) - it'll be nice to see a race where there's no pressure and everyone can just give it 100%, even if the Abu Dhabi circuit looks somewhat uninspired.

True, there's no pressure for the championships, but still loads of pressure for the drivers, some of which may not have a drive next year, or have yet to prove themselves.

There are also new teams next year. The only one that I know of for sure is Lotus, and I'm a huge Lotus fan. Exceptional cars, but it will be interesting to see how well they do when placed with cars that are relatively equal in power and weight.

I think 2010 is going to be a very exciting season indeed!

yea, 2010, when they all do prius engine swaps. Wtf is this 1 tank of gas bullshit?

Lol'd at the Prius comment. You really think it will be bad for entertainment? They are still going to need to come in for tires and a front wing or whatever.

I mean, at least once a year it seems someone's car pulls a fuel line down the pit lane, spraying fuel all over other drivers. Did you see that shit at Interlogos? Raikkonen and his car were completely engulfed in flames.

Maybe what they could do - instead of banning refueling - would be to electronically disallow the vehicle to be put in gear while the rig is attached.

I didn't know they were going to ban refueling. So many weird, stupid ideas in F1 right now. Traction control was banned again, the rear wings are now significantly smaller, no testing is permitted at all during the entire season, KERS, and now no refueling.

Congrats to JB.

Am I the only one who though Button's championship victory has been slightly overrated? He won a bunch of races at the start when all the other teams were caught with their pants down with not having twin diffusers. Then for the rest of the season he just finished in mediocre positions(his last race was good tbh).

It didn't strike me as a particularly interesting championship(nothing like Hill/Schumacher etc from the past) despite how the BBC tried to advertise it.

There was something of a car advantage at the start, but Barrichello also had the same car and failed to capitalise on it. When Button had his "slump" towards the end of the season, it only really affected his qualifying - he was still good in the races, and always made up places. Compare that to Barrichello again, who has a tendency to drift backwards in races, and then his rivals at Red Bull who failed to capitalise on Button's qualifying issues. I'd be very hard pressed to say that any of those 3 were more deserving than Button was.
It was more interesting for me because it wasn't the usual Mclaren/Ferrari dominance, and there was a point in the middle of the season where you genuinely didn't know who was going to win. As a whole, the season was quite exciting. There's still quite a lot of work to be done on the races themselves, and it's mostly the new tracks that are to blame.
