Fade to white problem - start of game

Dell Inspiron 6000
128mb Radeon X300 video card
2ghz Intel 4M
1 gb DDR ram

I am having a problem with the game. I click start new game. It commences. After the main guy talks to me and he says "wake up, wake up and smell the ashes", I am on the train and it fades to white. There the game jams up and I can't alt tab out or control alt delete the program away. Help please.

This reminds me of a problem I had a while back.

Something was up with my graphics card that caused it to fade to white everytime I started any game. While I was waiting for a new card I found I could get around it by switching the monitor off and then back on at the plug. Try that. (make sure you don't switch off the PC at the same time)

If that doesn't work its probably something wrong with the game, in which case I have no idea what to do.

I'm not so sure of this one. I've never heard of this problem before. However, I'm pretty sure that card isn't the best for gaming- could it just be that it can't handle it? Sorry, that's the best I can do... :/

well, just like any other problem u'd have...
make sure your dirvers are up to date
try putting your settings to lowest....antialiasing off, vsync, etc
if that doesn't help, try reinstalling/validating
worse comes to worse, get a new vidcard
