Personal Game of the Year for 2009

The combat wasn't perfect. It revolved around deflecting and chance too much.

Chance?

I played through the entire game using only the hidden blades and throwing knives.

With counter-kills you don't need anything else.

Sorry, I meant countering to go with deflecting.

The game leaves whether you hit the enemy or not during counters up to chance far too much IMO. It disrupted the flow of combat for something beyond your control. It made sense for certain situations though, such as trying to use light weapons on heavily armored enemies.

Hidden blades have a 100% chance to counter successfully, so I can see why you never had that problem.

For me it would have to be Red Faction Guerrilla. Enjoyed it a lot.
