There will be three downloadable packs (detailed below) available for both Xbox 360 and PC, release across the first three months of 2009. There's no word on pricing.

* Operation: Anchorage. Enter a military simulation and fight in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe ? the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders. An action-packed battle scheduled for release in January.

* The Pitt. Journey to the industrial raider town called The Pitt, located in the remains of Pittsburgh. Choose your side. Scheduled for release in February.

* Broken Steel. Join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave remnants once and for all. Continues the adventure past the main quest. Scheduled for release in March.

The official modding tools for Fallout 3 have been revealed as well. Cleverly called G.E.C.K. (Garden of Eden Creation) kit, the tools will allow players to modify the game in almost any way they desire by creating modifying, or editing any data for use in the game.

no horse armor?

I lost enthusiasm for the game a couple of weeks back. Possibly when the L4D demo came out. Haven't touched it since.

None of these sound hugely interesting to me. They'll probably sell like hot cakes to the Fallout nerds who love all the lore and stuff. They sound a lot more universe-expanding than the Oblivion ones.

Fallout 3 ticks so many boxes for me, yet I havnt clicked with it yet, I go to play and give up after about 20 minutes, I hope I can get into it when I have a little more time.

I think they release these for games like Oblivion and Fallout to keep people interested once they realise the countless flaws in the game.

Great news. I can't stop playing the goddamn game. I need to get my hands on it's SDK.

thats means I have to use credit cards? I dont have credit card

The editor will be awesome. I will get this for the PC next year which should give modders some time to develop some righteous content/tweaks. Good times! :bounce:

I don't even want to imagine what the ''action-packed'' battle will be like. The Chinese invasion simulation in the GECK was so cringeworthy, as was the 'final battle' for the main Oblivion gate in Oblivion.

Yay mod tools...I'd be more excited if they opened up the engine so we could play with animations easily.

Can Bethesda rape the Fallout franchise anymore?

* Operation: Anchorage. Enter a military simulation and fight in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe ? the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders. An action-packed battle scheduled for release in January.

Fallout's a freaking war game now?

Fallout's a freaking war game now?

Jump to rash conclusions much? They've effectively just told you what the premise is. I doubt very much it's going to be Call of Fallout 3

You guys are just haters. Honestly, bethesda is just trying to give some extra content so the game can be a little more varied. Don't say 'THIS IS GOING TO ****ING SUCK' after reading a sentence.

They're trying to appeal to console gamers, notice how all the expansions are pretty much combat missions? It's supposed to be an RPG.

Im sure The Pitt, and the Brotherhood expansions will have multiple ways to complete them so I dont see what you're getting at here. Of course they have combat options if you play that kind of character. The only one that seems to be a straight up combat mission is the anchorage simulation and who knows maybe it'll work for all types of characters.

Betheseda are violating the Fallout franchise simply because Black Isle never even did DLC. It totally goes against their design philosophy. I shall protest by purchasing on day of release, liking for a couple of days and then crucifying it on internet forums as soon as it is deemed fashionable to do so.

I wouldn't exactly call negative criticism of Fallout 3 fashionable, what with all the rave reviews it has been getting. NMA is expected to be quite a hive of activity, being a Fallout fan site and all.

Oh, unless that was a cleverly subtle jab towards a few certain comments made on this forum! :p

I only read a sentence of this thread, but I can honestly say, THIS IS GOING TO ****ING SUCK.

well I'm stumped ..I find it odd that in every other gaming community/forum on the internet people are commenting on how much they're enjoying Fallout 3 ..couple that with almost universal praise from the industry, reviewers and even fan sites and it's overwelmingly apparent that Fallout 3 is a critical and financial success ...everywhere except here at hl2./net. Even the freakin japanese like it, and they hate everything western

so either this community is exceptionally smart to the point where they're seeing something that the rest of world isnt or ..........the exact opposite is true

guess which one I'm leaning towards?

No, no, I think we're much smarter than everybody else.

I mean, we can't possibly be wrong.

Seriously though it's not that I don't enjoy Fallout 3, it's more that I feel no real compulsion to play it at all. It simply doesn't feel as rewarding to explore (bar the awesome but one-off things you find) as many other games feel... it's a big effort even to start the stupid thing up.

Ever since I replaced the main theme music with "A Kiss to Buld a Dream On" at least I don't fall asleep at the menu anymore.

Fallout 3 is easily THE worst sequel title, but an awesome game.

That is my opinion.

I think a lot of the praise and financial success is simply due to the fact that Bethesda made it, and that its one of the only games in this setting.

I mean, I think its a good game, but certainly not one of the best ones ever. Hell, this year alone I can easily think of several titles that are better than it.

* Operation: Anchorage. Enter a military simulation and fight in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe ? the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders. An action-packed battle scheduled for release in January.

Meh. It's not lore-expanding, as the Anchorange Reclamation has been around ever since... well, 1997, as it was mentioned in the original Fallout timeline. With Fallout 3's less-than-stellar combat engine, I can see that it will be entertaining, but hardly high quality.

Also, who's willing to bet Bethesda won't alter the combat armours so that they have long sleeves in Alaska?

* The Pitt. Journey to the industrial raider town called The Pitt, located in the remains of Pittsburgh. Choose your side. Scheduled for release in February.

Uhum. The Brotherhood of Steel has purged the Pitt a few years before Fo3, it's mentioned by one of the Lyons' Pride members.

* Broken Steel. Join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave remnants once and for all. Continues the adventure past the main quest. Scheduled for release in March.

So, three combat-focused DLCs. Focus on propably the most lacking aspect of Fo3, right after writing and setting.

I'm looking forward to the GECK and fixing the game, though.

Mikael Grizzly is correct about Fallout 3. This is what I actually beleive.

Oh shit vault furry is back, release the deathclaws!

Furry Deathclaws are an abombination unto Fallout Canon!
