I am curious as to what we think will be the better game? They both come out only a week apart from each other. (At least here in the US)

For the longest time, I was not even remotely interested in Far Cry 2. About two-three weeks ago, I started watching tons of videos on it, and quickly became interested.

The game looks incredible, I think I'll really enjoy the realistic survival aspect of it.
-Fixing of wounds by pulling out bullets, fixing dislocated bones, etc
-Degradation of weapons and vehicles.
-Trees growing back branches over long periods of time
-Shooting an ammo crate will cause the bullets to go off in the crate, hitting things around it.
-Fireeee
And much more

As for Fallout 3, I am still skeptical about this one. I am going to wait a month or so after it comes out to hear what it's really like. If it does well enough/sounds good enough, I'll put it on my Christmas list.

I'm a big fan of the post apocalyptic genre, and although overdone, Fallout is the series that really started that, but they could have made it a little more unique looking. A lot of the atmosphere is super generic, and the scenery super repetitive.

Personally, I think Fallout 3 will blow Far Cry 2 off the shelves, but I have a feeling that Far Cry 2 might be the better game.

Far Cry 2, probably... it's not trying to live up to the name of a game that many consider to be the best ever made.

Fallout 3 looks okay, but not really mindblowingly awesome.

This is a tough one as these are the two games that are both on my radar at the moment and the money flow is pretty tight right now. However, I know for sure Far Cry 2 is going to be my priority simply because of the map editor alone. That said, it's also coming out before Fallout 3 in the EU and I'm a very impatient man. :p

But seriously, I'm rooting more towards getting more out of Far Cry 2 but Fallout 3 is looking strangly attractive for all of the things that the devs haven't been unsuccesfully trying to hype up. I'm just looking forward to wandering about and making my own experience out of the game, but I also feel the same way about Far Cry 2. Hmm...

Damn, end of October is going to be pretty busy.

As a Fallout fan (not on the level of Mikael though) I'd say Far Cry 2.

BTW there should be mandatory lessons on making polls.

Option 1: Basically F3>FC2. Fine.
Option 2: Two statements. What if I agree with one and disagree with the other (as it is in my case)?
Option 3: Means basically: Neither. If we have "neither", we should have a 4th option: "both".

I've been looking forward to getting FC2 for a while now. I love the idea of it. How well it's executed, only time will tell. I'll defnitely be buying it though.

I'd never heard of Fallout before a few weeks ago. I usually detest RPGs and want my fps games to be true fps. Meaning the whole VATS thing, etc doesn't appeal to me. Having said that, exploring a post apocolyptic wasteland is intriguing and the 4-6 hour walkthroughs I've been reading on the gamer sites have sounded pretty interesting as well. Trouble is, I've been impressed with these sorts of walkthroughs in the past only to be disappointed in the long run.

So long story short.... too late.... I voted Farcry even though the poll options were atrocious. If I can get some hands on time with Fallout one day after release and enjoy it, I'll definitely buy it after I finish Far Cry and Resistance 2.

This is apples to oranges.

Sure, they're both open world, but they're also completely different.

Fallout 3: RPG/FPS, exaggerated gibbing, post-apocalyptic world, mutants
Far Cry 2: FPS, realism stressed, Africa, mercenaries, vehicles.

I'm sure both will be good games, which is why I'll be buying them.

My expectations for Fallout 3 have more or less evaporated, at around the same time that my interest in FC2 has been building. I'm still more interested in Fallout 3's setting (and the genre it pretends to be), but I have little doubt now that FC2 will be the better game, even though I have had absolutely zero interest in it up until recently.

My zombie broheem your back! But I seriously can't wait for Fallout 3, I plan on playing it religiously like I did with Mass Effect.

I would say far cry 2, not too impressed with fallout 3 (I didn't like oblivion so i am cautious of it)

Hopefully both games will be great. But as far as the dev's presenting their case, I am more intersted in Far Cry 2 at the moment. And being on a budget, that means that will be the one I buy first. With L4D the following month, there is no telling when I will get around to Fallout 3.

I'd say Far Cry 2 as well. Looks pretty fackin' ace from what I've seen.

I'll probably just nick Fallout 3 off of a mate to try it out for myself, there's no way I'm buying it.

I'm buying both. Can't really say one looks better than the other. They both look incredible to me.

Not that enthused for either.

I'm just looking forward to RA3 and L4D currently.

Fallout 3 grabbed my attention initially, but now its not looking so great. Far Cry 2 looks like its gonna be amazing, now if only my comp was a bit better.

No, that's not the idea.

It was asking which will be better, and if you don't feel like you can relate to either, you vote neither.

It's like asking, "would you rather have sex with this dude or this dude? or neither if you are not gay or not a woman?"

And then you are all like "but what if I want to have sex wit both of them?"

NO, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO PICK ONE ;)

OK, fair point. :) Still I'd vote for option two, but I don't agree with the statement that it will probably sell worse ;)

Fallout 3 looks great. FC2 looks fine but frankly I didn't think Far Cry was that great and I don't have much interest in playing it. Not to mention their highly limited mod development support, I like to buy games that support their mod community because you get a ton more replay that way, but for FC2 the only custom content we're going to see are maps (no new materials, no new models, no nothing, just maps with FC2 content).

I thought the same but it's not made the dev team that made far cry 1. It's a whole new dev team.

Ennui, Far Cry and Far Cry 2 are very different games.

True. I've read a bit about it. I'm just not all that excited for one reason or another. If it gets OMFG AMAZING reviews I'll probably get it, but other than that I have plenty of other things to occupy my time. Hyperrealistic environments are cool but only for a while, and this looks to be a pretty generic shooting game other than that.

It DOES look better than Crysis though (in terms of fun / slickness), not that that's saying much.

Fallout 3 on the other hand gives me a ton of replayability, lots of customization so I can geek out on that, beautiful post-apocalypse environments (I'm a sucker for anything post-nuclear), a storyline that isn't just meant to give me a reason to shoot a bunch of dudes and blow a bunch of shit up, and it has DRUGS in it.

It did get 94% from pc gamer UK (higher score than crysis)

ahh, I love polls that add opinions that have nothing to do with the question asked in the topic. Not voting.

If I had to pick between the two, I'd go with Farcry 2 at this point. Reason being I find Bethesda games to feel strangely empty and static after about an hours time. I'll end up buying both, though.

I really give a shit about both games, so ill be getting both. However if I could only pick one, it would probably be Far Cry 2.

Far Cry 2 has a lot going for it; I can say the same about Fallout 3, but it lacks something as an FPS/RPG. Both have great graphics and newe technology, but Far Cry 2 has better graphics and much more sophisticated technology that adds to the gameplay.

The engine alone is something amazing to behold.

I voted but FC2 but both games will be awesome.

FC2 has MP tho so might be slightly more replayable but L4D is out a few days after.

Kind of a presumptuous poll, but Far Cry 2 nonetheless. That shit be offadafackinCHAIN boooyeeeee.

I'm pretty much echoing everyone else here that's been recently incredibly interested in FarCry 2.

Wheres the both are going to kickass option.

Fallout 3 should have the soul and the depth of an RPG, while Far Cry 2 seems just another sexy shooter with nice explosions. I will go for the first.

Oblivion really didn't interest me at all but I'll give Fallout 3 a trial. I will be getting Far Cry 2 though.

Far Cry 2

I'll pirate Fallout 3 and then burn the image to a disk just so I can SHIT on it

You never played Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion did you? That game did NOT have the depth of an RPG, it had about as much depth as the old DnD Gold Box games from the early 90s, Elder Scrolls 2 was millions of light years closer to an RPG than Oblivion was..

I have faith in Beth... aw, no, I can't keep a straight face.

In all honesty I'm really just hoping against hope in saying Fallout 3.

As flawed as Oblivion was, I still enjoyed it.

I'll get both I should imagine. F3 on either 360/PS3, and FC2 on the PC.

Sweet.
