The trick is, do whatever exercise to the point it hurts.

Then do it a little while longer.

It's when your body realizes "shit this is hard" that it begins upgrading itself. Or so I heard (sez the CS major >_>)

That's for muscle building, not necessarily weight loss. The way you build muscle is by working the muscles and stretching them to a point that they develop hundreds of little tears on them, and the body reacts by healing(your body is gonna be sore. sore is good, lets ya know its working, as long as its not pain, just tender sore muscles) up those little tears and ultimately ending up in a large portion of muscle.

I think thats how it works anyways. Don't quote me on that! Heh.

errrrrrrrr i eat alot. but i do a fair amount of exersizing, and im not fat. even if i dont exersize for a week i dont gain a pound. i have fast metabolism.

if you want to exerisize and gain muscle, lift and eat protien. tuna/steak ect...

if u want to lose pounds, eat salads, and run.

Being overweight, the only problem you can solve by running away from it =P

get a job that requires you to be on your feet all day and has a lot of physical work. that's what i did, and i've dropped about 20 pounds in around 9 months, even though i still eat as much as before ;P

This failed for me....I actually gained weight due to muscles, ugggh..... ;(

get into a competative sport. I started rowing in grade 9. Now I'm in University, and I usually train twice a day all year round. Exercise is a lot easier once you've found your motivation. When you're competing, you're always thinking about being faster/better and that's what drives you. Also, after a while it becomes addictive. I guess it's the endorphins. If I take a couple days off I start to feel all restless and feel like I really need to do something.

lol dont worry about weight

worry about body fat %

muscle weighs more than fat
bone weighs more than muscle

so these charts showing u height to weight are bs, people worrying about losing weight should learn a little about it

Eat meat, a lot, and drink water. I found coffee can be good for you. I think it promotes digestion also. but not too much ofcourse.
And take long walks and go hiking :)
Well, for me its impossible gain weight because I live in a farm, and its pretty helathy living physically. Also most food what comes from here is healthy :farmer:
hmmm, maby you should just take a vacation and go live in a farm (without your computer) :p

That my friend is just a means of bringing a solution quicker. I fail to see how that in itself is the answer.

The general idea being. Eat right, drink right and exercise right. Many people can't seem to understant this.

:| Okay I ran around my block 2 times, so 2 laps. It only took me like 10 minutes, thing is I was extremely tired and ****ed up... I was all dizzy n shit LOL! I was about to barf I thought I was just gonna collapse in the street. :x :x How should I approach running from now on? Should I just start jogging for couple of days then start running? FUUUUUCCCK, I have never been this out of shape before in my entire life. I ran for like 10 minutes and went back home and fell asleep!

Running is the best thing you can do. If your running, crabs are not bad. Watch what you eat before you run. Don't run fast. Jog for as long as you can. Drink water. Get running shoes. Make sure your shoe laces are tight. Running is hard at first.

actually running harder and faster for short periods of time will get u fitter much much faster

running for long periods of time will make u calorie effecient, not something u want ifur trying to burn fat

brisk walks at a fast pace for a long time. this keeps the aerobic respiration high and therefore the anaerobic high too, which burns fats. the measure is, you should be walking fast, but still be able to have a conversation at the same time. do it for 25-40mins at a time, say twice a day if possible. thats about the most effective way. all you need is a pair of shoes and a long road :p

eating healthily helps, but salad aint gonna gobble up all yer fat.

WRONG. Crabs are always bad. They itch like motherfu--....wait...ohhh... you meant carbs...yeah...

Keep running. I just started now and I'm following a method my brother used from a website that starts you at running 60 seconds at a time and walking 90 (over 20+ minutes) and works you up to running full time. The running then walking part is so you don't exhaust yourself right away like you did that first time you ran. Your heartbeat will get in the calorie burning zone fairly quickly early on but you need to keep it up for like 20 minutes so your body starts burning fat.

Screw the Atkin's diet. That'll kill you if you follow it too religiously for too long. John Atkin er whatever his name was died because of it. Technically he died from the fall on a sidewalk when he was having a heart attack - who dies from falling on a sidewalk? I don't buy it.

nah man you get can get a much better much more effective workout in 6 minutes, why spend 30 mins + when u can blast it out real fast + get bigger gains

well by that theory, endurance athletes should just sprint full out for a minute every day and they'll be all set.

I personaly like to strech and warm up for 15-20 minutes. Gets me in the mood for exercise, then I like to run like a mofo.

Just go outside, look up and behind you
yell out, "STRIDER!!1"(I dont care if someone is around, just do it.) and run like a mofo. If you stop, the stridar will skewer you.

or if your extreme, have a friend with a pickup truck drive 10 MPH after you down a long street without breaks.

Its what I do.

nono u misunderstand

endurance athletes arnt fit, they arnt in shape but they sure as hell are built for their sport

u take any serious distance runner and they are obese
their body fat % is extremely high
also they have very low flexibility and as a result very low range of movement
bmi is unhealthy as hell

they are just major calorie efficient

if they sprinted for 1 minute a day they wouldnt be set at all
not for an endurance race anyway

pshhh

stop pretending you know what your talking about guys

i dont think you have any idea what your on

obesity is body fat %

not just weighing 600pounds

she has far more fat than muscle

you know what else
im calling her unfit too

sorry but i do know what im talking about lol

Eat lots of fruit, it promotes good and pleasent pastime in the toilet. Especially pears and dryed plums(3 a day is enough).

:naughty: Okay this is day 2 of making an effort to exercising. I got out starting with stretches then 30 sit-ups and 30 push-ups. I started off running, then alternating to walking and running, with a little bit jogging here and there. I did this for about an hour! Yay! What a drastic improvement from yesterday! Not to mention I noticed a fine ass asian chick that lives on my block in which I never realized before. She was was takin' her dog our for a walk... at first I thought it was my mommy from far away. She was HAWT! Like OH MY GOD! Anyways, I think i'm on the right track to becoming fit again! Next time i'll bring my camera phone for those spy shots on her BUTT!! Post it on Halflife2.net and my e-pen0r will grow!

I have a question about weight loss and alcohol consumption. I too am getting a bit on the podgy side and want to lose weight. I've heard that alcohol is really really bad for weight loss, but the problem is here in New Zealand that's pretty much all we do - drink. I mean, me and my mates consume ridiculous amounts of beer (and tequila, and rum and bourbon) every single weekend, and usually a couple of times in between. It's my hobby. Is it still possible for me to lose weight and continue to drink like a fish?

In 2 weeks of running, you should do some hills. It increases your strenght. I suggest you do 4 times a 300 yards hill without stopping.

Doc, note: I dissent. A fast never prevents a fatness; I diet on cod.
