Okay here's the deal you can choose one and only one first person shooter as your favorite FPS It can't be any half life game and no lists of favorites Just ONE your all time Non half life first person shooter.

I personally like painkiller

I'm gonna have to say Day of Defeat (not source)

I've probably spent the most hours playing it out of any other game, and it was always loads of fun.

multiplayer:

return to castle wolfenstein and rtcw: enemy territory then day of defeat

single player:

hl series

FPS you say? I'm not sure what FPS is my favourite. However, DOD was always my favourite multiplayer game. Well, that is until TF2 came along.

I'm not sure.

I'm just not sure.

Operation Flashpoint.

True, it's rough around the edges, but it was truly innovative when it came out. OFP taught me a lot more than any other shooter I've ever played, and left me with many fond memories. I could spend hours telling OFP war stories. :p

Would be Half Life 2 if it wasn't for the OP's demands..

Single-player: Bioshock.

Multi-player: Battlefield 2 or Team Fortress 2, can't decide :x

Call of Duty, probably. Was a great change-up from Counter-Strike at the time and had an awesome community over here. Spent countless hours (and dollars) playing it till the whee hours at the local net cafe.

Halo.

Kidding! I dont really have a favourite that stands out other than Half Life 2.

Old school:
Tribes 2...actually possibly one of the best and overlooked games of all time

Newer...Halo 3
amazingly well designed game. Great competitive play really shines as next gen game play.

NO COMPRENDES!

mmm..
Shoosh with the Halo hate. They're fantasticly well designed multiplayer games, regardless of what you think of the single player or the community (mute much?).

I really like Condemned (one and two), but I don't know if they are first person shooters or first person beat 'em ups.. In the second one guns are used alot more, 2-3 levels are based around using guns (well, not really, but there are ALOT of guns on these certain levels, and you'd die quickly if you didn't use them..)

If those two don't count, I'd say the early Rainbow Six games. Raven Shield for the motherf*cking win.

For singleplayer I'd say Call of Duty 4. I'm not a huge a shooter fan outside Valve games but that was pretty cool.

Multiplayer... have to go with Tribes 2 (again, I'm mainly a Valve loyalist so I have to go back a ways to find a non-Valve game :p). It's not something I'd want to play these days, but it was awesome in its time. It's actually still the only FPS that's gotten vehicles right (they were actually *gasp* fun!). Plus all the fun little gadgets like turrets and sensors and... stuff I've forgotten... added a strange amount of depth to it. Oh, and disc launchers. I think I only played the demo of Tribes Vengeance, but I'm still pretty sure it managed to poop all over what made Tribes 2 so fun.

I really like Condemned (one and two).

Oh! I forgot about Condemned! Maybe thats because they forgot about me...

I hope they decide to release the game on the PC platform because I might buy that the first time I see it in the store. Rather not pay $50 US for it though...

I loved Condemned though. It's one of the only games I've finished in the past 10 years, alongside Call of Duty 4, Half-Life 2 and Doom 3.

Single player: Probably COD 4

Multiplayer: Really torn between Battlefield 2 and TF2 :(

Outside of Live I thought COD 4 sucked major monkey balls.

Anyway,

Team Fortress 2

Single player: Half-Life 2
Multi Player: Battlefield 2 (though TF2 is really ****ing close)
