I'd say quite the opposite.. The Slim Shady LP is so very much better than his newer stuff. It's more 'real', seems closer to the heart.

Yes, I too went through the Linkin Park Dark Ages. What do I like now? ACDC, Led, Lynard, Deep Purple, Foo Fighters, 30 Seconds to Mars, and a lot of one songers by random artists.mortiz said:I think everyone (under the age of 20) went through (or is going through) a dark period in their teenage years where they liked crap like Linkin Park and other "pop-metal" bands. Yes, myself included. Thankfully I grew up and developed a taste for real music. The only bit of hope I can offer you Sparda is that one day you will grow out of them, probably the day your balls drop. I sometimes envy those who lived through the 60's and 70's, back in those days you had genre defining bands and individuals springing up left right and centre. Today we're treated to the same old generic crap time after time. I could count the number of truly excellent musicians that have come out in the last 25 years on one hand.
Then you've been looking in the wrong places, music wise. So many brilliant artists/songs/albums of emerged since 1980 its not even funny. The only catch is that you have to find them yourself, the next great album isn't going to sell 10 million copies.mortiz said:I think everyone (under the age of 20) went through (or is going through) a dark period in their teenage years where they liked crap like Linkin Park and other "pop-metal" bands. Offcourse you are right, but insulting/degarding the people/their state of mind/believs/age/taste because of the band they listen to is not right.Qonfused said:While I have to agree with your statement for most political threads at these forums but I can't say I can agree here. If someone doesn't like a paticular band then so be it. There's no other way to go around it.
I Agree, just none of this "omg noob u suck" because someone likes a band or so.Qonfused said:While I have to agree with your statement for most political threads at these forums but I can't say I can agree here. Dedicated is cool but you should listen to Red to Black.Adrien C said:Edit: About fort minor: just 2 cool songs : "Dedicated" and "Remember The Name"
Adrien C said:BTW: To all the people who "listen to good music" just because their fav bands are some "underground" bands who couldn't get a record deal because according to them they don't want to become "mainstream" : Please Shut the fuk up
No one said that, but if you read better you will see that it was said in about 4-5 diferant ways.Ludah said:Funny, because I don't recall anybody saying this.
I think the lead singer has a grate voice.Mechagodzilla said:The one where nobody sings.
Musically, they are good.
Lyrically, they blow with hurricane force.
They're one of those bands that you're like "hey this is an okay song" and then the lyrics start so you instantly throw a shoe at your radio.

"omg how phat is this beat?"
The only time I actually care about an artists lyrics is when I listen to rizzy ap ap.

There's a difference betweem hating something because it's mainstream and hating it because they've done everything in their power to make it so.
As I said before, when you're specifically gearing your music to be easily digestible, you sacrifice your integrity and your worth as an artist. By all means, if you can gain popularity without gimping your own artistic vision, then more power to you. But everything about Linkin Park reeks of watered-down tripe. In the end, all that matters is "omg how phat is this beat?!" and the amount of angsty teeny-boppers you've got in the crowd.
