STALKER delayed again?

"During THQ's regular quarterly conference call today, publisher execs stated that STALKER, the long-in-development post apocalyse sci-fi shooter from developer GSC GameWorld, is not in THQ's fiscal guidence for their fiscal 2006 year. This means that the publisher does not expect the game to be released until at least April 1, 2006 which is the beginning of THQ's 2007 fiscal year(they did not completely rule out a release before then, however). THQ execs said they expect STALKER to benefit from additional development time."

how much more freakin time do they need? interest in this game is steadily waning

Im trying not to think about this game for awhile.

ANd what does "FFS" mean?

This looks like it'll end up like Duke Nukem Forever... everyone was uber hyped at one point, but delays kept pushing it back and now it's not on the edge of technology so I'll suprised if it ever sees release since they'll keep trying to make it graphically and technologically acceptable.

The screens still look better than most games to me, and I highly doubt it wont in acouple of months, its very aestheticly pleasing. But the gameplay sounds sweet, Ive allways wanted to explore chernobyl ever since I saw "stalker" the movie.

We've got a minimum of about a year until release... and you can't just constantly update graphics and get anything else done too

When was the original release time?

Q4 2003. Then Q4 2004. Then Q1 2005. Then Q3 2005. And now Q2 2006. I won't be surprised if STALKER vapourises ....

this thing didnt deserve the hype in the first place. has anyone even looked at the track record of these developers? at least 3drealms has good games under their belt.

I think they are trying to improve it so it can compete with UE3.0 engine

I thought this game looked terrific when it was first announced, but all of the delays and the subsequent releases of other amazing titles has distracted me plenty.

I am not even going to think about this game until I hear it has gone gold. Why bother? There is so much stuff coming out before this that I just don't have the time to waste worrying about one more great-looking FPS.

When it comes out, though, I will be first in line to pick it up, if it can ever live up to the hype. It had better do so too, especially with all of this "extra" time in development! :rolling:

I really dont care all that much about the games graphics ..it's the do anything anywhere aspect of the game that I'm most looking forward to

yup. :(
i wonder what they are thinking by delaying it yet again.
by the time this game comes out..nobody will care :|

i've been following this on and off for years, its been in development since 2003 but april 2006 AT THE EARLIEST, f**in jaysus!!!prolly late summer or sumit...

I don't care about this game anymore.

It'll probably turn out to be utter shit.

Let's put ourselves in hibernation and request someone to bring us back when the game is released.

And then take a flying taxi to the store and back home.

 Whooo delayed once again! **** STALKER!

Yeah!!, 100% agreed.

They should release a working demo this year.

Damn!

It's good that they want to make it the best possible but there's got to be a cut-off point.

We'll see how it turns out.

What im trying to say is that imo stalker looks good, not because of its pretty graphics technology, but because its great design and enviroment and realistic portrayal of chernobyl. Also that graphics hardly makes a game (although sadly, gaming is heading in that direction)

Lets just hope that the gameplay is as good as it sounds and the wait will be worth it, "crappy graphics" or otherwise.

Looks like we will be getting the Stalker and DNF Bundle Pack.

Like that game Galleon - what was it, 8 years in development? Then it hits the shelves like a brick, looking 8 years out of date. Hopefully this won't happen to STALKER, but it seems to be going that way.

I'm putting it down to overly-ambitious gameplay concepts.
All I've seen of this game is gorgeous environment shots... and a list of gameplay ideas which made me think "How the hell is that going to work?"

I can see this being a disaster on the scale of Daikatana.

Oh god.
I have been waiting for this game since 2003.
AND ITS DELAYED AGAIN?!:flame:

I said it 10 times already...its gonna .
so dont bother waiting for it

Look at Half-Life 2. It proved that no matter how long the wait is, as long as it's a decent game, people will buy it.

Although Duke Nukem doesn't look like a decent game to be honest... because you just run around shooting pigs. How good can it be? Even if it does come out before I die, I'm not going to be interested even if it's got gyper-realistic graphics.

If you want surreal action, buy the new Serious Sam! If not, stick with HL2 :)

gosh, did you guys label hl2 duke nukem forever too ?

Don't care anymore. It looked great in 2003. They need to just buckle down and get it out the door. Graphics are always getting better. You can't hold your game back because someone else's graphics are better. There has to be a point where you just say "We're done."

I agree.
I've had alot of patience and has been following STALKER since it was first announced and even talked to Oleg several times, but now I'm starting too loose my patience, if they keep delaying the game, eventually no-one'll actually notice it once it's released.

omg you people are so mellow dramatic, you'll end up buying it anyway :p.

You think this is annoying. Wait untill it's released in 2006 and it's crappy :)

they should release a demo now to see what people think so far. i know from playing the fear demo i wont be buying that.

Screenshots? Give a crap - didn't anyone see the E3 2005 video for this game? It was awful. Goddamned Pathetic. A load of overblown fuss over nothing was created for this game. Perhaps setting it back will ensure that it's not the total pile of steaming piss it was last time it was seen in action. Of course, the delays mean that it will never ammount to much anyway...

It better be worth all of the f***ing waiting. I know Halflife 2 was, so maybe this will turn out good too.

They should just scrap the project, Same with Duke Nukem Forever.
Scrap the projects and release what you've got.
