Should have made a poll. I say 360 for sure.

360. Better games, much better online service (though it does cost $50/yr). Everything else is comparable to the PS3.

360

Ninja Gaiden 2, with mother ****ing trained ninja dogs that use cheap group tactics.

You can't really ask a question like this on here. People who only have one of the two consoles are obviously going to say whatever they have just because they've got one. Get the opinion of people with both.

Poll added.

I recently purchased a 360 for GTAIV exclusively, but I've just bought Gears of War & Rainbow Vegas with xbox live gold, the online play is stunning and brilliant. I would have loved a PS3...but the costs and choices of decent games really bummed me out D:

I don't like consoles, but if you have a decent PC i'd say PS3. Most of 360 best games are on the PC:

Playstation 3. Hands down. Better games, it will have a better online service soon and its free. Much better interface. Not to mention METAL GEAR SOLID!!!!

Well what kind of games do you like?
Name genre's and specific games you really like or are looking forward to.

The ps3 still doesn't have enough good games imo so I'd say 360 I guess.

If you feel like constantly sending your 360 back and forth to get it fixed when it gives you the Red Ring of Death, by all means, get that.

So far, I don't think I've read any hardware failure problems with the PS3.

i have plus IMO there just isn't as much good exclusives on ps3 with the exception of mgs 4

I'm on the same argument with many here, that if you have a good PC there is very little, if any, reason to get a 360. Except that overrated-hype-fest-filled-with-12-year-old-girls Halo 3, all games worth playing are on the PC.

There's also the fact that the PS3 doesn't break even nearly as much (I've heard figures at high as 1 in 3 for the 360), is far quieter and can play Blu-Ray movies. The online interface isn't as good as Live but hey, it's free.

Plus MGS4.

This.

Like other's have said before, the 360 really does have a larger lineup of quality games out right now. But one thing you need to keep in mind is that, many of those games are also released on the PC as well. So, if your computer has no problem running any of the latest games, then getting a 360 doesn't make much sense. However, if your PC isn't up to date and you're not planning on upgrading soon, then the 360 does give the best bang for your buck right now.

The PS3 is more of a late-bloomer in that many of it's top developers haven't released their big franchise title names yet. Kojima Productions (MGS4), Insomniac (Ratchet and Clank), Naughty Dog (Jak), Square Enix (Final Fantasy XIII), Team Ico / Shadow of the Collosus (???), Sony's Santa Monica studio (God of War 3), Polyphony Digital (Gran Turismo), Level 5 (Rogue Galaxy) etc. will eventually be released but you'll have to wait.

I did not vote in the poll because I didn't feel that my opinion was worth the OP's time. In fact all opinions on suggestions like these are better solved by the asker themselves. For example, try asking yourself some questions such as these:

  • Do I have an able PC that plays all the current games? (If you do, then a 360 is not the way to go as many of it's games are also available on PC as well.)

  • Do I like PS3 exclusives? (If not, well, then there's really not much of a choice in third party titles that the 360 has also tbh.)

  • Would I rather play online MP or offline SP? (If you play single player more often and you don't really care about all of Xbox Live's features, then the PS3 is a better choice.)
Probably the most important question though:

  • Am I willing to put up with the 360's crappy hardware and risk red-ring of death? (Probably not. All gamers willing to put up with it so far are either much more hardcore than me and have lots of time and money on their hands...or they're either just stupid.)

at the end of the day you have to assess what you want from a console.

Do you have a good gaming PC? If yes then ps3 is probably better (admittedly I have a good pc and a 360 and I still love my 360) if not then 360 would undoubtedly give you the better library of games.

Are you interested in blu-ray? It is also likely that MS will come out with a new blu-ray 360 soon.

The games. What ones are you interested in? Halo? Gears? Metal gear? Resistance?

You're not going to get much outside of fanboy opinions. I can't give you an opinion on the ps3, as I've never played on. I do like the 360, though. Although I don't have one of those, either...

Really it's up to you, but since I own neither, I'd rather purchase a PS3.

Do not care.

Xbox 360 if you like sending things away in boxes. PS3 if you like games which are actually movies.

PS3, the Bluray wins it for me and soon to be an update to give it online features equivalent to the Live service.

Get the console most of your friends have. Then again, if you have gaming friends, get a Wii ;)

Same position here. I don't own any.

I said it was an easy choice though, since PS3 has Blu Ray, MGS4, Final Fantasy 13+, Home, free online and a few more original games like Little Big Planet. Sony will also support this console heavily for 5+ years I imagine.

A 360 because the PS3 controller is still stuck somewhere in 1990.

Oh yeah I really do have to say I still can't get used to the sixaxis cos it's so light :|

Love light controllers, would rather have a light controller then vibration.
Plus it's still my favorite shape. I would just like them to move the analog's
and configure it the xbox way.

I'm with Gray Fox, the PS controllers were so...comfy to play with, I thought. Wasn't too big, so you had to stretch a bit to hit some things, and not so many buttons in various locations where you had to think for a second, "Which button does what, and where is button x?"

Though, obviously the xbox controller is good, as people love it. Just not my cup of tea.

PS3
- a very good blu ray player that is connected to the internet for constant firmware and software updates
- blu ray format so you won't be swapping disks next year when DVD capacity has finally met it's limit
- free yet inferior online service
- decent games with some nice ones on the way
- flexible with regards to opening it and replacing internal hard drive

360
- best games of the bunch
- slightly better visual output
- great online service but you have to pay for it
- more people have it, so if mp is your thing....

Personally I got a PS3. Wanted a blu ray player for my new tv, gaming was secondary to me, didn't care about exclusives from either system, didn't want to worry about disc capacity and I don't game online.

Without knowing your wants and needs out of the console, I have no idea what to suggest.
