Got a pretty decent deal from Wal-Mart.com for an 80gb bundle. The PS3 + $50 gift card, 1 game *Burnout Paradise*, 4 movies of which I can remember getting Hellboy *Since i've never seen it*, Hancock, Fifth Element and I think Kung Fu Hussle. it also only comes with one controller as it has the "Blu-Ray Remote". All for $488. *With the gift card it's 438 I guess...*

So....anybody that has one want to be my bitch, as a little tiny box with internet and things scares me. I don't know what I just got myself into :p

*EDIT* I'll keep a list of PSNs so I don't lose/forget em....

Woah, good deal. In Estonia PS3 vanilla costs 800 dollars. so ur lucky

Eh, if I would get it, I'd get it for the PC *It's on the PC, right?*

Game doesn't look all too interesting to me. Also, the PC will be the main gaming platform for me, as there is no way I could replace it. And STFU about buying a 360.

I'll mainly use the PS3 for RockBand *since I already have it for the PS2* and since I"m on that road, I can get some FF13 and some other games I never considered cause I didn't think I'd be in this situation.

It's not on there. But if you don't think you'd like it you probably won't. It can be a blast for some people and utterly boring for others.

So what is your PSN ID??

Also, for bang for the buck, grab a bunch of the PSN titles. They are incredible and better than much of the full priced stuff out there for any system. I just hate having to wait for Fat Princess!!!

I don't know, it's shipping. Should be here this week. I'll have a hay day trying to get everything set up...

Welcome to the wonderful world of PS3. You will find that you'll be incessantly criticized by Xbox 360 owners who repeat the same 2 year old console comparison facts in an attempt to make you feel remorse over your purchase. That aside, there are a lot of great past and future exclusives and multiplats. Not sure what type of games you're into (other than the obvious HL and SC), but here are what I recommend as a good starting point for your collection:

Condemned 2
Metal Gear Solid 4
Ratchet and Clank Future
Uncharted
Valkyria Chronicles

All the above, plus (from the PSN), in order of importance:

Wipeout HD
Super Stardust HD
Pixeljunk Monsters
Pixeljunk Eden
Flow

These little gems of titles on the PSN are what make me appreciate the PS3 so much. I spend more time playing the above than any full length title.

Edit: As for LBP, if you regularly play games with others, BUY THIS GAME. I don't care if you don't like the look of it, or it isn't usually your type of game, there are few things in life more enjoyable than playing LBP with a friend. However, I never, ever play it without company. Something about playing LBP is ridiculously depressing.

The problem with playing with friends is it will have to be over PSN, since I don't have too many friends that come over and want to play games like LBP. It would be more of a Rock Band and Beer type of thing.

I seriously doubt I'll be doing any sort of FPS' on the console, as I'm EXTREMELY biased on the "keyboard/mouse" setup. that aside, I hope to talk to you guys a bit more about this. I don't regret my purchase, I just don't understand the ins/outs of the product at all. I'll probably be asking. :p

I really hope to get some rockband online going, though.

I joined the next gen team, only to sell my 360 a couple months later from realising the PC is a superior 360. Every game I wanted to play was on PC too, but my PC runs them better than the 360. Also my xbox live gold account is left to waste, xbox live wasn't much fun (GTAIV, Rainbow Vegas, Gears of War, TF2...blergh).

So I'd say your PS3 is a good choice. I might get one in the future for blu-ray & general superiority. I've dropped out the console news market for a while now, what happened to 'Home'?

It came out with a pathetic whimper. Played with it on the day of release for a bit then never went back.

Your reasons for selling the 360 are the same reasons I never bought one. Everything the 360 offers I already had for PC, and better.

:LOL::LOL::LOL:
Home is the biggest piece of trash that was ever hyped.

Yeah, atleast Sony had the good sense to not make using it mandatory for common PSN functions.

Wow they put so much time into that, and it's not even used!? I heard they were going to ship it free with PS3s, I hope they didn't charge for something so disappointing.

Home is blind to the worlds within us...waiting to be born.

And on a not so At The Gates note, Home is a great idea but a sad reality at the moment. It is far too early in it's gestation to know whether or not it will fail. It is still very much in Beta and as such needs all of the criticism it generates. A free virtual world of fun and games and movies and friends and exotic locales and interactive gamespaces? Yes, please.

They didn't charge, and that's about it's only redeeming quality.

I've not really seen ANY news on the consoles for well over a year. I'm not sure what this "Home" thing is, but I guess I'll be figuring it out soon enough.

Is the WiFi easy enough to set up? I'd imagine it would be about as easy as the PSP.

Yeah, you can find networks both automatically and manually.

CybrMan has a PSN.

OCybrManO, hit em up.

PS3 arrived yesterday, game/movies should be today. I'll have to go buy another controller, HDMI cable and Rock Band 2 for the PS3 so I can at least be complete and can start looking at other games to buy.

Sucks I can't DL and try PS3 games so I don't waste $50 :(

There are a good hand full of demos for various games up on PSN. If you haven't already, you should browse around on it and see if anything catches your eye.

This will sound mighty retarded, but if I do that, it's free right? Not like Xbox Live where you get nickle and dimed to death?

The PSN service is 100% free. All of the demos are usually free as well. The things that cost money are full games, some DLC, some themes, and movie rentals. If you are unsure, it will display a price when you select an item. From what I can remember, while signing up for PSN it will ask for a CC at some point, but entering the information is optional.

Awesome.

What's your PSN, Sedako, so I can add you to my OP.

OH HOH OHO.

I finally hooked her up today on lunch. I must say, getting everything initialized was rather streamlined and simple! The wireless hooked up right off the bat, looked through the settings real fast and started some update while connecting to the PSN. I let it go as I had to come back to work. I can't wait to play some games!!

Ahem...

I got what I want. This thread isn't for you if that's the best you've got ;)

Call me selfish for wanting to play on XBL with the all mighty pitz.

:<

Do not do this

Get the first one (if it's even on the PS3) it's much better

Or get both of them. I enjoyed both games, even if the 2nd had less of a melee focus near the end and an odd story. It's certainly worth the $10 I bought it for new.
