Firefly crew picture sparks rumors

What the ****?

WHAT THE ****?

WHAT THE ****?!?!?!

Salmon is just jealous because if he ever creates a TV show his talent won't be sufficient to write the theme tune, let alone a musical episode.

Yeah, cliche and mediocre.
Quite. Shallow and pedantic.

Our love for that show ain't hard to explain

Anyone who dislikes Firefly has a severe personality problem.

You're just a nerd who hates things that are 'too popular', especially if you didn't have a chance to like them before they became 'too mainstream'.

You're a bunch of nerds who saw the show when you were teens and you thought it was the best thing ever but it's really just, you know, okay and not that great.

I actually only watched the show for the first time a few months back.

Coming from someone who likes a show featuring very cliche personalities.

Are you joking? Explain to me how their personalities are cliched?

Wow, stereotyping. What a great argument you are presenting.

Wash: "Son of ching chong ting tong wing-wong!!"

firefly nerd- "If I had a girlfriend she would think this is funny too!!"

Coming from one half of a couple in love with firefly; I protest!
Though everything loved gets an equal and opposite hatred by people like you I guess...

No just some people have some irrational need to go against popular opinion.

If you dislike Firefly for its writing, you're too pedantic to be watching TV in the first place.

No just some people have some irrational need to go against popular opinion.

Well, I wouldn't say firefly is exactly mainstream popular, but in this thread; valid point.
it's the kind of "You are all WRONG!" *superiority* argument...

Firefly was mediocre, Serenity was garbage. It doesn't really have anything to do with popular or mainstream opinion.

You never even watched it - the only thing you saw was Serenity.

No, I saw the show, actually.

Mediocre? Garbage!? Even serenity was amazing. Joss Whedon's script writing and character development far surpasses that of most TV shows out now. Serenity is strengthened by watching firefly so how you could dismiss it after having watched it all is beyond me...

Stop getting so uppity people, it's not like it's surprising or new that Samon likes to hate on things everyone else loves. If you want to get even, troll him about The Dark Knight (which incidentally is so far from the best movie ever made that it's not even on the same continent). Getting mad at him just makes him feel good :p

Moreover, if someone doesn't appreciate Firefly, who cares? It doesn't impact your own love of the show, and you aren't the one missing out on a great series.

Captain Malcolm: "GORAMMIT!"

firefly nerd- "Hilarious!"

Wash: "Son of ching chong ting tong wing-wong!!"

firefly nerd- "If I had a girlfriend she would think this is funny too!!"
ZT: "Strawman strawman strawman"

Everyone else: "How unexpected!"

–adjective 1. ostentatious in one's learning.

2. overly concerned with minute details or formalisms, esp. in teaching.

i.e. taking the campy writing too seriously

*Ignoring my real argument because you know I'm right*

How unexpected!

You didn't have an argument in that post. Your post was simply an insult directed at people who have a different sense of humor than yourself.

How unexpected!

You know, I wish you'd go back to the ultra-bipartisan agnostic that you used to be. Telling everyone they were wrong and should stop yelling was much more becoming than this new taking-a-stand-and-being-an-ass-about-it ZT you've become. Besides, thats my thing, dickhole.

simply an insult directed at people who have a different sense of humor than yourself.

I suppose you would also defend people who enjoyed Meet The Spartans' sense of humor.

I am convinced (and really hoping) that most people saw Firefly when they were about 15-16; a time when they believed they knew good writing and good characters, and to this day have their nostalgia goggles on.

Firefly is mediocre as what.

Saw it when I was 21-22. I still think it's awesome.

HA!

ITT: Whoever has an opinion are the only people that are right.

Stop getting so uppity people, it's not like it's surprising or new that Samon likes to hate on things everyone else loves.

It is true that Samon's power comes from the negative energy that surrounds him. He absorbs it through his spores, and it is then converted into what some might call 'life', but we who know him best understand its true meaning. There is a hebrew word which loosely translated means the absence of love and happiness, and of all things pure and good. It is this which fuels Samon, which animates him and forces the bile through his veins, where the rest of us have blood. And that ancient word... is 'gitness'.

I'm sure Samon like lots of things. He's just embarrassed to tell us. How bout that Twilight?

Captain Malcolm is thief with a heart of gold.

Jayne is the comic relief because he is a dumb hick.

The Doctor is a reserved snobby rich kid who doesn't know how to express his emotions.

The Priest is a wise old man who says sarcastic quips, and he will teach you about having faith in people when you make mistakes.

River is a misunderstood brainchild; a really weird girl that no one understands, but also super intelligent. So zaney!

Inara is seen as a simple prostitute, but she's really much more! She's like a Geisha or something man, her rituals are so meaningful and deep you have to understand that she's not just some whore.

You're just breaking down the characters into oversimplified characteristics. While Firefly characters might sound dumb when they're described that way, it can be used on any other character no matter how great or well written.

By the way, I'm just posting this because it came to mind, but did anyone else notice this (besides the kindly gentleman I swiped the image from)? I think it was from the first episode, right after they escape the reavers.

Bingo. :p

Nearly shat myself the first time I saw it.

I only noticed it thanks to the commentary tracks. Apparently he did it as a joke and no-one caught it.

Haha, holy shit I never noticed that before. I've watched that episode probably six times and had no idea.

Yeah I have seen it. I mean, looking at him in Dollhouse, firefly and funeral, I get the impression that he's a really nice guy too. Someone who'd be hilarious to hang out with.

My sister has interviewed him, he is indeed a really cool guy.

**** it. the whole crew seem like great people. I wish I was in firefly.
