First 10 minutes of Batman: Arkham Asylum

A finnish console gaming magazine gave this game 10/10. They titled this game the best licence game ever. Only thing they didn't like were the last levels.

Wow, the demo's a little over 2gb and it apparently only has about 10 minutes of gameplay.

Downloading now. Let's see what my new HD4870 can do :)

I can run it fine on maxed settings(res low though, 1024x768) on my GeForce 7900GS, so your GPU should run it just fine.:p

I'm definitely buying this.
The combat is so damn fun.

Playing the demo. It's an interesting experience. Graphics are awesome. Atmosphere is spot on. Dynamics and combat are funny, intense and well done. You really feel like you are the Batman. Arkham Asylum might be the best Batman game. I am impressed.

Never mind what I said before. I am pretty excited about this.

Is the demo out on the xbox as well? I'm still on the fence as to which version I would get if/when I decide to get it.

Yup, it's on all next gen (Wii not included). I have watched the videos of the console versons, and while they still have Batmans cloth simulated cape, all the other things that the PC has from PhysX like paper, clingy steam etc is missing. I really thought they would have attempted to do a substitute for it on consoles.

It goes really slow on my PC at random times. I liked what I played but didn't finish it, I'll try it more today.

Well, I wasn't expecting that. The demo ran great on my PC, the game's atmosphere is great, the voice acting is superb and of course the whole dynamic combat feature is awesome.

I'll buy it.

It's about what I expected the game to be. I'll be buying it, but not with the $50-60 price tag. Maybe when it hits $30.

I downloaded the steam demo and it still runs like shit. I love the silent predator gameplay and really want the game, but I think I'll have to wait until the price drops ridiculously or I can run it better.

Very first Arkham Asylum mod. Black suit Batman:-

My thoughts on the demo:

Ooo, err, ahh, eee. I do not quite know how to feel about this game. I simply do not know how to feel about it. Ooo, errr. First and foremost, Zombieturtle is absolutely right: the art design is detestable. Joker is a fusion of the typical TAS palette and Ledger's discomposed psychopath. It doesn't work. The protrusion of his chin is ridiculous and the hair (no pun intended) laughable. He is a silly punk. Joker is absurd in appearance, yes, but there must be semblance of a man behind the flamboyance. This Joker is deformed in physical appearance, and I do not like it, and nor do I like him staggering around alongside Hulk 'Batman' Hogan in an Arkham all too science fiction for my taste. You do not **** up lunatic asylums, and more importantly, you do not - under any circumstance - **** up Arkham Asylum. In my very important and highly regarded opinion, they have, and Pandora's box has been unleashed. Ooo, err, ahh.

But you know, it's Batman! BATMAN. I have no qualms admitting to my joy of commandeering the Dark Knight. Aside from artistic direction, the game does look good, and it's all rather smooth. Too smooth, actually. The combat, dominated by slow motion silliness, is neither demanding nor taxing. It's formulaic and simple. But it's still Batman, and I am enjoying that, and with that, I will be playing the full game on release, even when I'm faced with a slew of self-indulgent nods (more like head-butts) to Batman's relationship to Joker. "How do you know?" Asks the lovely Barbara Gordon. "Because I know him." Intones Kevin Conroy. Roll. Eyes.

Mod looks bad lawl.

Game ran great on my pc with high settings (though PhsyX destroyed it because my hardware doesnt support it). Still not sure if I want the PC version or the Xbox one. It looks a hell of a lot better on my PC and thats the main reason I want it (im a graphics whore sometimes, and i think the game will probably get boring and repetitive quickly). But after I finish it, I could sell it and get most of what I paid for it back if I bought it on the 360. Hrm.

+ ACHIEVEMENTS, ACHIEVEMENTS, ACHIEVEMEEEEENTS!!!

I enjoyed it and I think I will get it now but I do have a couple of niggly issues but nothing major:

-Combat is quite simple, basically keep hitting square
-It's one of those stealth games that doesn't present itself as a stealth game (like manhunt I suppose but obviously not as stupidly violent). It allows you to take out people and people that are basically next to them won't notice it. You wouldn't be able to do that in other games like splinter cell.
-mutated hulk inmate did that happen in the comics? o_O
-Some of batmans lines were a little too corny
He'll kill him if he sees anybody. He won't see me
How do you know? I know him.
-Did it seem to anyone else that joker took over the asylum a little too easily?

I do kinda half agree with this. I actually do not mind the joker in this that much but I do not like the new look on the other characters like bane, poison ivy etc.

I got the impression that not only had the Joker been laying plans for the takeover from the outside but also that Harley had been doing the same on the inside and that Joker only needed Batman there to finish off the plan.

Well, carefully orchestrated though it may be, Joker's actual escape was hokey. He simply punched a guard.

Yeah it looks like it has been planned for a while but what did he really do? punch a guard and harley somehow broke out and took over the security office.

Woah, woah, woah. He head-butted a guard. Big difference.

Best part of the demo is letting one guy see all of his buds disappear so when hes the only one left he starts freaking out at small noises.

Even better is silently walking behind him, and when he finally turns around he screams and cowers for a few seconds.

So true. You can land right in front of him and he pretty much as a full blown meltdown. Of course I had been messing with him for a few minutes, throwing batarangs and sneaking around and stuff.

Im sure it'll be easier to do later in the game when you're fighting larger groups, but I managed to do a couple special takedowns during the fight at the beginning of the demo.

They basically involve batman breaking a limb. I did it by accident the first time too, so I was surprised when Batman broke someones ****ING LEG. You can see the break in detective mode too.

I'm pretty sure I pulled somebody's leg out if it's socket and then I kicked the living shit out of their scrotum in one of mine.

I thought it was pretty fun for a short demo. I loved the AI reactions to some of the things that happened. There also seems to be a lot of detail with the voice work for even the grunts. I noticed that they intelligently communicated with each other and rarely repeated the same lines, which was a pleasant surprise. Get out of here stalker!

PC without a doubt. Best version and only £24.99

At best in that case. Either that or I would be unfair to judge the game by them screenshots.

Really don't know what the hell you've been smoking. The game looks brilliant.

Does it have Microsoft Live achievements????:O

I'm starting to think you have an unhealthy obsession with achievements.

It seems to me that different people have different opinions about what good graphics are. Imo Arkham Asylum is stunning and impressive. The Batsuit looks like real rubber and has hi-res textures, the skin is shiny from sweat and you can see beard and hairs.
