Fishgig goes through a combine soldier?

Is it new or old? A fishgig in Lost Coast can penetrate a human body(actually two bodies in the screenshot) and stab into a wall firmly, like a crossbow arrow. I have never been able to do this before. Is seems that, for me, a physically "sharp" object has just been newly added.

This is rather fun, but I can't see this applied in other aspect. Or actually I can't find thing like this again.

You can find one of these in the map just before you fight your first Antlion Guard (was it called Sandtraps?) and get the bugbait, but killing the Antlion Guard with this thing screws up the game. I believe you can find another on your way up towards Nova Prospekt, at the Fishing Boat Zombies.

When you are working your way up the cliff face to nova prospekt, there is a cave with a wooden bridge in that you need to knock down, there is also a fire and a zombie i believe. In this cave there are 2 harpoons, which when you pick up aim straight forward (like lost coast's one). You can pin things to the wall with them, pretty fun to do on NPC's through the head! But yes...this is a known thing from a long time ago now.

No, the Vortigaunt just goes up to the corpse and does nothing.
