Now the funny thing is Ron Paul is recieving the highest ratings in the polls

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18661804/

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=3165894&page=1

But, just watch this fox guy spin it like a pro..

These guys are nuts. Infact I bet they select their audiance carefully to make sure they all support the views of Giuliani and company.

It should be common sense these guys are ****ing nuts, yet every time I go to the gym fox news is on the TV. It makes me want to bang my head against a wall.

Its kinds of sad when McCain sounds rational.

I couldn't deal with that, having it on in a gym. I suppose the people running the place think that most of their customers are muscle heads.

The thing that is a relief is Ron Paul has the most support, he even won in Fox's very own poll. The others are in coo coo land, it's like they have been bought out or something, they have this smug 'I have support from powerful interests' look to them.

But that's the thing, even apartment gyms where you can tune to any channel you want as you are alone every time I would go in there I had to rush to turn off fox news. I simply don't understand it, its mind boggling.

What the hell is an advanced interrogation technique?

EDIT, there is so much logic in Paul's words...you really have to wonder how these guys became so stubborn.

If Giuliani pulls the 911 card one more time im gonna barf.

It makes me want to bang my head against a wall.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. God they piss me off so bad, they argue like retarded children. Every time I see the fox news logo my blood pressure goes up.

I'm reading the book Blowback.

Republican? Making sense?

This is an outrage how dare fox news support the more conservative side... This is totally appalling and demoralizing in every way imaginable...
nuff said.

So the title: "Fox news is crazy", now please elaborate on how that makes any sense at all, I guess it's now considered crazy to continually filter out certain things in order to maintain your viewer base and your profits. So is it the people who watch fox news who are crazy, the people who produce fox news who are crazy or the people who despise fox news who are crazy?

Also logic is not equivalent to a good president. Many times the logical decision isn't always the "right one". Presidents have to single handedly make many decisions, senators do not have that responsibility, they do not have experience in that field, I think governors are far more qualified to be president than senators time and time again. It requires more than any of you or me would ever know, but most of all they all have one thing in common a power-hungry mentality....

Please give an example of when a logical decision is not the "right" decision.

It's crazy because the propaganda isn't even subtle, it's in your face blatant. Ron Paul talks about past events that have happened in the correct context and he makes the most sense. The people at fox are effectively turning a blind eye to the concept of blowback and turning on this myth that terrorists "hate our freedoms" and use that as the sole ideal to beat the war drums.

It is madness.

How in denial are these people.. wait for it.. the fox poll was a text message poll, how can the online community mess with a text message only poll? lol

Fox "News" is BIASED.

Bias != news.

What a bunch of complete ****ing morons. COMPLETE ****ING MORONS.

MAYBE PEOPLE ARE VOTING FOR RON PAUL BECAUSE HE'S RIGHT AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT. SHUT THE **** UP FOX.

Yeah it's ****ing unbelievable the lengths they go to. It's so disheartening to see such ****ing manipulative assholes get so much power.

Yes Fox news is biased, they get a lot of money for holding their particular stance. Are they going to switch their view over completely and risk loosing tons of profits, no! I know Fox news is biased. This is by the way a free country and from that we get the freedom of the press, and you all have the personal freedom to watch whatever news broadcasting network you wish.
But I mean come on, listen to what you guys are doing, your cursing at a news station on the hl2.net forums...that's cool. I don't mean to get all sentimental and everything, but is there really that much anger built up in all you guys that you direct so much hate against your fellow Americans? Of course the press is slimey, they always have been and probably will be for a long time to go, this is nothing new.:dozey:

More platitudes please.

You're missing the point. They masquerade as a news station. It's not news, it's infotainment. Stupid people take what they say at face value, as if it was legitimate reporting. It's not just a news station, it's symbolic of the constant dumbing down of America. FOX News is essentially a government sponsored (or maybe GOP sponsored would be more accurate) media company designed to spread propaganda and influence the public. I have a problem with that. That's not to even mention how unethical the whole concept is and the ridiculous levels of ignorance that permeate every second of broadcasting on that station.

And I would like to see you defend your previous point. Geogaddi asked for an example of when a logical decision would be the wrong decision. Please, enlighten us.

Isn't complacency one of the signs of a failing democracy?

New or not, Fox news plants a lot of crazy ideas in people's heads and they don't realize they are being fed a line of bs.
It's wrong.

Fox "News" is BIASED.

Bias != news.

So is every other "news" station.

FOX makes me want to puke because its so biased towards conservative. CNN makes me want to puke because its so liberal.

There are NO unbiased news sources. This is why I have stopped watching news on the TV.

That comment is just as bad as what FOX is supposedly doing. Yeah they are retarded and biased but so are the people who watch it. Any sensible person can tell they are biased and can pick apart the news from the bias. Same with CNN. They are biased to all hell but any sensible person can see that and pick the news out of it. Don't just blame FOX, all the news stations do it just from what I can tell your more liberal so FOX stands further out from your beliefs and seems crazier to you. That is how both FOX and CNN look to me. It is all biased and there is nothing to do about it. People are getting their news from people who are there to make money, not deliever news. They have no onligation to the people, only stockholders.

What a bunch of bullshit. There is a difference between some unavoidable bias due to sources, timetable, ad placement that slips trough(CNN) and flat out propaganda(Fox).

Oh, you wanna see biased? You want propaganda? Try watching Korea Central News Agency.

Here's a english site for you people. www.kcna.co.jp (I can't get into this, though. Blocked by KISCOM)

Anyway, no matter how biased FOX News is, it's still for the profits. The job of the press is not to tell the truth, but to make as much money as possible

Translation: bullshit sells.

That is a very bad reflection on the general public, not just on the corporate world (as if you could separate the two).

Finally, something to legitimately argue with you over.

a) I'm Australian, sucker!

b) Fox News masquerades as a news channel and claims that it's 'Fair and Balanced'. If it didn't have the 'we're fair and balanced' thing it'd be ok, but it tries to portray itself as always telling the truth. And then they blatently lying.

c) Thanks for generalising the press, man.

FieryGoose, I typed a long reply to you but the internet ate it up. So instead I'll leave you with my total assurance that your brain isn't working right.

It need not be said that bias in one's news is not a good or even benign thing. Yes, bias is inevitable. But Fox News is a station in which the falsehoods and conservative circle-jerking are not only frequent, but often deliberate. That's what happens when a memo comes down from Rupert Murdoch explicitly stating that the goal is to push an agenda. Stop being so apathetic.

Nicely said, and it's pretty freaking obvious when even Murdoch himself admits it.

Murdoch was asked if News Corp. had managed to shape the agenda on the war in Iraq. His answer?

"No, I don?t think so. We tried." Asked by Rose for further comment, he said: "We basically supported the Bush policy in the Middle East?but we have been very critical of his execution."

Really? Glenn Beck is a liberal? Lou Dobbs is a liberal? What about's CNN's cheerleading for the Iraq war, was that liberal? Or when ABC (parent company of CNN) aired the path to 9/11 which pretty much blamed the enitre terrorist attack on Clinton and was seen by millions of people, was that liberal? But I'll bite, name some liberal lies CNN has been spewing.

But bias is only part of the problem, there is a fine line between bias and propagenda.

Alaskan reporters and journalists generally report the facts without giving even a hint of opinion. It's pretty balanced up here.

Pretty sure Steven Colbert isn't biased.

Gasp! Are you suggesting that the Republican party's personal newspaper (Fox News) is making democrats sound dumb so that republicans sound good!!!

BLASPHEMY!!!

Okay, maybe not...

The man they are making look dumb in these clips, is a republican.

Man, I've gotta read up about libertarianism. I thought it was a spectrum of the political left. Didn't know it applied to both.

"Political left" is not a real political classification in my opinion.

I would say that in Western politics, certainly British politics, there are in fact 3 poles, each of them focused on achieving the ultimate and most comprehensive expression of a wide principle:

1. Equality. This encompasses socialism and communism and is generally accompanied by a collectivist philosophy.
2. Freedom. Libertarianism goes here, for individualism and freedom of choice is key. Anarchism would presumably be the extreme?
3. Order. Possibly typified by the original Burkian conservatism whereby the single most important thing in society is stability and order; traditions are honoured as institutions that help preserve the status quo.

Most people have a mix of these, and perhaps it is not healthy to favour a single one exclusively. However, these three principles - examplified by the three quite wide ideological descriptors liberalism, socialism and conservatism - serve to inform much mainstream political discourse.

Except that there is no real objective standard of human 'perfection' (if there is, we don't know it), meaning killing people or restricting their choices in order to attain such a thing is morally bad.

We are not living in an age anymore where genetic disorders, ugliness or physical weakness preclude the possessor of these attributes from making a valuable contribution to the species.

Arguably, it is intelligence which is most important in our society, and when people are stupid, it's not always because their genes are stupid (there are different kinds of intelligence anyway). Mental disabilities are not the only reason people are stupid, not to mention that there are different kinds of intelligence, and there are a myriad of causes as to why people might be mentally incompetent - education, blind chance, whatever.

There is no proven genetic signifier that dictates levels of intelligence and so most kinds of eugenics would be fruitless, illogical, immoral. Even if you were just talking about stopping people with genetic diseases from breeding, such diseases do not actually affect anyone's ability to do well, be happy, or make massive contributions to human civilisation.

The use of eugenics to direct our evolution is similarly pointless with no tangible benefit, and a pointless, unbeneficial action which has adverse effects is surely an immoral one. The biological process of natural selection (even if guided) takes so long we would never see the tangible results, and anyway who cares about biological evolution anymore? We have ideas.

Why is it such an outragious claim that the 9/11 attacks were done out of backlash due to our bombing of iraq in previous years? That sounds like a reasonable explanation to me...

I'm more worried that such a suggestion is immediately misconstrued.

Apparently in America, "what we do has global effects" is synonymous with "the blame for 9/11 lies solely on us."

There is surely a big difference between acknowledging one's own causal part in tragedy and removing the moral liability from the culprit.

Sheltered old people. I believe our generation won't have this problem when we have all the seats. We are far more reasonable than our parents.

The current generation of elders in this country are greedy, irrational, and afraid of everything. They're just big babies.
