Like most people I fell outraged by the current situation in Georgia. The injustice and terror brought upon the Georgians is, in my opinion, inacceptable. What hurts me most, by far, is the immobility of the international community.

I cannot understand how countries who tag themselves as protectors of freedom and liberty, allow Russia to continue with its invasion and Machiavelli conquest. Hypocrisy and interest its all there?s is left?

In a world where 6 billions people live, one may wonder if a single person can bring change into such a great environment. Some days we do, some days we don't, but sometimes, when the situation calls for it, we must.

Even though I'm a soldier in the Army reserve, I believe that words are mightier than swords (now day bullets). It is my strongest belief that, when man unites, he can accomplish great things for a greater good.

I bought today the domain: www.free-georgia.org
I got it a couple of hours ago. Nothing its set yet as you may see, I just changed a couple of things to test the web builder.

I wanted just to make a petition site at first. But now, I was wondering if you guys would like to contribute in this little project. It would be great if we all could put a little of our time and effort to make a small community project.

Pictures, small articles, intros, site design and just plain help would be appreciated and well used. Just a small rock, but it would be nice if for once we could all pull it out together.

It would only be a small site where we could have small articles, reports, pictures of the conflict, maybe updates, a petition and a small golden book to promote public awareness of the critical situation in Georgia

I?m willing to give access to the site so we can all contribute to it.

Are you guys with me?

First, let me get this out of the way-

Free Georgia? I'll take two.

Also, on your webpage there, you spelled "brought" as "braught" which may turn people off from joining your worthy cause there. Oh, and what exactly are you trying to do?

I don't see why they're being so bitchy (Russia), why not let them secede?

The main problem, Adrien, is that most of us don't have a ****ing clue why whatever's going on is going on.

Educate us.

I hate Georgia to be honest with you guys. Those damn peach pickers need to get a life. I'm sick of you Georgia.

Get out of my country. Get out of my continent. Get out of my life.

Because last census reports claimed there was just a little over 17,000 ethnic Georgians living in South Ossetia, go figure.

For once I think the English should just stay out of other people's business, not follow the ****ing americans in every stupid thing they do...

They want to stick their noses in and ruin relations with Russia, let em do that, we'll be sitting here in our neat little atomic bunkers.

Actually, you know what pisses me off? How the US is looking to cause another war with another country. Seriously, why the **** can't we sit back and just watch something happen for once instead of saying, "Oh, lets fight in here and then move to Russia, and then start WW3."

Our country needs to take a gaddamn note from Canada and just sit back and relax.

This. I may not be in America, but our government follows America in anything!

Oh FFS. Free Georgia? It's been occupied for a few days, primarily in its separatist regions, after a war it started. Even if Saakashvili was taunted by Russia and the South Ossetians, he still made the decision to launch a full scale attack. Remember, the conflict officially started when Georgian tanks entered South Ossetia and Georgia shelled Tskhinvali. And you really want major western countries to take direct action in this? Start a war that would cost 100x more lives? Instead of turning this into a hackneyed 'free tibet' style crusade, get a real sense of international relations.

Georgia,
Georgia,
No peace, no peace I find
Just this old, sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind

This. Russia should get the fook out of Georgia proper, but Georgia should consider giving South-Ossetia and Abchazia more autonomy.

this.

No its a pointless idea. A war wont break out, it will just be USA and Russia exchanging empty threats until Russia eventually fully stop, which they will do. Im not fully aware of the causes for Russia's incursion but Im pretty sure they wouldnt have done it unless provoked. Still, I feel bad for the civilians that are going through this nightmare.

This, even though there's substantial evidence to esteem Russia the aggressor.

The situation is too murky to go on about freeing either side yet, and in any case it sounds like both are problematic whoever 'started' it.

"Free Georgia" is deceitful.

In Soviet Union, Georgia Frees YOU.

btw, I think Georgia army attacked Russia first.

Georgia started this in my opinion, so as far as the idea of the US fighting Russia over this goes, I say **** that. I don't really feel like getting drafted into WW3.

Wait, so Georgia launches a full scale invasion of Russia's squeeze, South Ossetia (the majority of whose population are Russian citizens), Russia responds by defending its smaller neighbor, and suddenly Russia is the bad guy?

Yes, they massively overreacted to it, but it's sent a message loud and clear to the whole world: Russia's back with a vengeance, don't **** with us.

Give this a read:

It's all about perspective.

Seems a bit silly starting up a 'free Georgia' web site when you yourself acknowledged that the western world still knows very little about the actual 'war' itself. We're still getting mixed reports and we'll struggle to get a clear picture with all of the bias and propaganda that both sides are blurting out to western journalists. If you're still serious on perusing with the website you should use the website to create awareness for both sides involved and include a forum for active discussion on the conflict, rather than stir up a stereotypical 'free x to hell with y' website that thrives off of paypal donations and blurts out inane, sensationalised material.

Not a flame, merely a suggestion.

Seriously though, it's way too early to make any sort of thing like this.

Im guessing the whole oil pipeline was a major decision maker for the US to send peacekeeping troops..."whats that...oil? SEND THE TROOPS!!!!!"

Technically, if Russia moves into Poland... and they're part of NATO iirc, that'll force everyone that's in NATO to respond possibly with hostility.
No?

I don't think Russia's stopping with Georgia.

I don't think Russia are that stupid...I certainly hope they aint!

I don't think that'll happen anytime soon, though they're pissed that we agreed for the US to establish a missile interceptor base on our territory.

Russia did have a reason to attack, if none of you know.
I am not joining this project.
Now, if it was South Carolina- then I would join in.

What does the hegemon have to say about all this?

Hegemon would be more a Digimon name than a Pokemon name.
