Free Pentium® 4 processor 1.9 400 fsb to good home.

I just recently upgraded my processor and usually I hand stuff down to my family or friends but this time around no one needs it. I'd like to give out my old Pentium® 4 processor to someone that really needs an upgrade to HELP them PLAY Halflife 2. I dont want a person that has three computers asking for it or someone that wants to sell it on ebay for chump change. I want this to go on a persons main computer. Also make sure your motherboard supports a 1.9 Pentium® 4 processor, with a 400mhz fsb.
So if you think my old Pentium® 4 processor will help you and you need it please message or post here the stats of your computer. Depending on the replies I get Ill most likely try to message the person I pick by friday night after I get off of work.

No and I asked everyone. As far as greed you wouldnt really get much if you sold it but it could help someone a lot depending on their rig. I'd like to be able to think that most people here could pass up something that wouldnt give them much help vs someone who really needs it.

a friend of mine could really use it.

right now he has a celeron 400 overclocked to 500, or 550 or something, he's hurtin for an upgrade, recently i've hooked him up with a decent video card and an extra hard drive, but he doesnt have the cash to do a full upgrade, he can plan and budget enough for some stuff but he cant get mobo, cpu, ram, etc, i was gonna hook him up with my old xp 1600 system when i got my new rig but that plan went out the window.

anyways yeah, he was there on HL's release day buying it (this is before i even had a computer) and we went to his place and installed it and were blown away, both of us loved the game, and i know he wants to play HL2 but his current system will run it at maybe one frame per second, heh.

i'm a candidate

I have an 800, with 768meg pc133 ram and a geforce3 128meg, and my cpu is a big flaming piece of turd. It bogs down my comp like crazy....as it stands i can't even play MOH, let alone HL2. I've probably played Half-life through 10 times (twice since i heard the hl2 announcement) and was totally stoked to play HL2, but as it stands I work at a used book store making minimum wage so there's no way i can afford to upgrade anything. :x

Good idea, by the way, posting this on the forums, i wish i woulda thought of that for some of my stuff...(nobody would want a geforce 2 would they?..........nah....didn't think so.) Anyway, that's all i wanted to say.

I gave my friend the first computer i bought with my own money and he tore it apart for peices and gave it all away to other people, i couldnt believe that. (Note he sold/traded the peices too!)

his current board certainly won't, he can budget for certain parts, he just cant come up with enough for a full upgrade.

im building a comp for a friend of mine, hoping me and him can play hl2 together. (lan) i could use the processor for him. not all that compelling of a story, but atleast its the truth.

okay.. so i'll let u decide whether i qualify for ur requirements.. because right now i have only 1 comp.. and here are the specs:

AMD Athlon 600mhz 128 SD ram, Voodoo3 video card, Sound Blaster 128, 20 gig WD hard drive.

anything else u would like to know for qualifying?

anyway, if ur really doing this, its very generous of u :thumbs:

What's a socket? no seriously, i'm a retard. and as far as my specs go, i know they're pretty good, it's just tha, my cpu is total crap.....it's not even running like an 800 should, thereby totally defeating any benefit my other decent parts should give me. like i was saying before....i get about 8 frames a sec in MOH.

Well I found someone who I think would really be helped with my old p4. They were able to back up what they said "published a 3dmark score for me" and seemed on the up and up.
I'm sorry I couldnt help more of you but I only had the one to give.

Nice failing to mention that you have $1500.00 invested in an upgrade that im helping you build..Besides this processor is a Northwood B, It wouldnt help you.

very generous man, i do the same with my old comps. I take my old CPU's and mobos and piece together a system from leftoverparts and work so i can give em to friends who need em. hehe, i actually just built a p4 1.8 system for a friend of mine. karma is gooooood

hmm.. okay.. ur right about the upgrading.. but take this into account

i am personally spending all of just $200 dollars Canadian.. the rest is coming from my brother.. meaning about where around $1500 Canadian.. now from past experience i know i won't be able to access this new comp much since i haven't contributed much in the first place.. call it sibling rivalry, or ownership issues i dunno but with HL2 set to be released soon.. i hope i get some time to play tho i doubt it


it would have been nice to have a comp of "my own" and to play or access the net whenever i wanted.. but i know thats a pipe dream at best for now..

anyway, whoever got the comp parts is hopefully happy

as for shiv being this nice and generous, i have never seen this kind of act, hes a good guy and his heart is in the right place

Thanks for the nice replies everyone and the guy who I am giving the p4 is "bmb" therook. The guy was able to back up what he said and will for sure be able to use it. There was a lot of other people that fit that so it was hard to choose who it went to. Like I said I wished I could have helped more people out.
