Futurama is Back

I kinda miss the way Fry's voice sounded in older episodes. It was more nasally.

Yeah, after watching a few of the earlier episodes, I now hear the difference. But I guess its just like how voice actors for the Simpsons and Family Guy slightly alter the voice for their characters over the years after fine tuning. Especially the Simpsons. Some of the old shorts that ran on the Tracey Ullman show sound completely different. Anyway...

the new episode was OK I guess. The whole cat thing kind of bored me, and I didn't like the jokes so much. Although, I did like how
how they connected the alien cats to the ancient Egyptians.

... I also kind of forgot that Leela and the others knew that Nibbler could talk. But I guess they remembered from the movie Benders Big Score?

I also appreciated the Egyptian connection.

I found the episode entertaining, but it wasn't a favorite. It's like one of those Slurm episodes.

I don't know why there has to be such a huge plot all the time (that can fit into 25 minutes). It's just kinda like, sigh, I don't know. It's up and down too fast for that much depth. Can't there be just like a minor plot or something? Why so dramatic?

i'm a little behind, but i watched the da vinci episode today, it was okay. couple of laughs, but man fry was annoying. it was as if they were trying to really emphasize his stupidity when it's been pretty evident from the pilot episode all those years ago. i don't see the need to highlight that.

It seems like they're trying to make him even more stupid. Which itself is stupid.

The time machine episode makes up for it, IMO....

They went way too far again with the political commentary. Still entertaining though, and Zoidberg's last line had me laughing for a good 30 seconds or so.

Must be my sense of humor but I get nothing from this show.

Oh jesus, the Flying Spaghetti Monster had me lol'ing. Pastafarianism for the win.

Also, I'm pretty sure I had a Hot Wheel like that triceratops when I was a kid.

I actually liked this episode a lot, but I guess thats because I used to be a creationist. Granted, as kryn said, it was based on politcal commentary. But the creationism/evolution debate has been going on since Darwins day, so I didn't think it was that bad.

I don't know about anybody else, but I always love when I see Cubert in episodes. He's one of my favorite characters.

Though, he didn't really get any good material in this episode. Nothing as great as Awesome Express.

Every cartoon I have ever seen taking on the evolution theme always seems to end up mirroring 'Inherit the Wind' some way or another. Good episode though, many laughs were had.

been slowly catching up with this by watching the recent 2/3 episodes, will watch whatever the newest one is tomorrow (9?). it's getting better, finding these ones much funnier than the first couple.

is it the files i'm getting, or our monitors contrast set up too bright because i like to see clearly when i'm playing games, but is fry's skin a lot paler now? i think it might be our contrast but still.

I could swear that suspender gag was from The Dukes of Hazzard. (Uncle Jesse)

They would always freeze frame and go to commercial when the shit hits the fan. But then an announcer guy always comes on and tells you how much trouble they're in.

That was my show when I was a kid. Probably the first show I liked when I started growing out of cartoons.

Catching up as fast as alternative methods will allow, up to the cat episode. Loving it so far, but one prevailing question remains:

What the GODDAMN F*CK is up with Fry and Leela? This is bugging the shit out of me. One episode we have the entire premise revolve around Fry going on several dates with her, the very next she's whining about not having a man, with Fry in the same room no less. I swear they're just doing this on purpose to mess with us now. :frown:

I think the last movie messed the writers up. The main dynamic for the entire show was how Fry wanted to be with Leela, but she didn't want to be with him. Then at the end of The Wild Green Yonder they hooked up right when they thought they were going to die.

I don't think they know how to handle them after that.

But then she ****ed Zapp bigtime right in front of him, and didn't even act remorseful or anything.

SHE'S A SLUT, A DIRTY DIRTY FILTHY SLUT.

I mean sure, you snoo snoo Zapp because the gigantic machine is threatening to destroy you if you don't... but once he's gone... you say sorry to fry! SAY SORRY YOU ONE-EYED HARLOT!

Actually I think it throws off Leela's dynamic more than Fry's. Fry would still be the happy-go-lucky idiot he always was whether he was vying for her affection or not, but part of Leela's personality is rooted in the way she's always messed around in relationships, and single more often than not. Were they together, she might be at risk of becoming content and possibly a little boring, barring a string a screw-ups from Fry like constantly standing her up on dates or... oh, wait...

Honestly it just seems like they want to have it both ways for some reason. They could have easily tied it up in the first episode with that clone business, just have Leela lose interest for some reason (or "think better of it" as she's done so many times already) and go back to the way they were. Instead they have to lead us on like this... it really seems intentional to me and I don't like it one bit. :(

I think a Schizophrenic wrote this latest episode. lol

I was thinking the same thing. Really laughed at Fry's and Leela's dinner. This episode, while very random, felt like the older episodes. I liked it a lot.

That last one is definitely one of my favourites. Absolutely, ridiculously hilarious

When
Professor Bender opened up his door and all those clown robots with swords flew out,
I just about died laughing!

are the latest episodes available online anywhere? my dvr apparently hates me and now only records tyler perry movies.

Best episode of the season for sure.

Eh, not even close for me. The DaVince episode, the season premiere and the time traveling episode are all better in my eyes.

No way your opinion is empirically wrong and mine is correct in an absolute sense.

Technically your opinion is irrelevant because you made the claim that it was the best episode of the season, when the season hasn't even been fully aired yet. So nyeah :p

Get a room 2004's.

I think this was probably my 2nd favourite episode of this season, it was very good though, and I will probably watch it again pretty soon.

Season premiere is nowhere on my list.

My favorites are, in order, Time Machine, Da-Vinci, Body Switching. Least favorite was the cat one. Followed by the eye-phone one.

I agree with this list, but I put the Eye-Phone episode behind body switching, ahead of cats....

I think I laughed more during this episode than any other this season. Definitely my second favorite of the season so far (the time traveling one is my favorite).

I wish I had a forward time machine to skip to next summer for the next season.

Just caught up again. Dear god, the comic con in episode 11. I think they bypassed the fourth wall and crashed right through the fifth.
