G4 NEW hl2 level about to be shown...

heh no need since I saw the television broadcast. I gotta say that with HDR the level looks more like a really good cinematic.
 
You have 5 warnings. I wouldn't recommend talking about where we can get that video :)

Seriously tho, G4: Make the video available as a legal download, otherwise a lot of people will be illegally downloading it.
 
Guys, the video floating around out there on the net really doesn't do it justice. It looked MUCH better on TV.

Yeah, I thought those might be using HDR but I couldn't be sure.

They went by to quickly.
 
wooo yeah i just downloa....watched it. Used my telescope to watch a tv over the pond. Short but sweeeet! (seriously sweet that i wanna die) looks awesome.
 
It was kinda wack, they didn't show any actual gameplay of "The Lost Coast".

The HDR looks good but there is already a mod out for hl2 that puts hdr in so I'm not really waiting for this that much.

Well, thats why I said that they should have shown the Lost Coast video again. I mean, just once?? Kinda lame if ya ask me, but I really loved it and can't wait. I just hope a couple of weeks isn't like 2 months, haha.

Also about the guy above me. Thats what he was talking about, the bloom effect. It doesn't really give the whole HDR feeling and its just a tiny step to HDR, it just has a nice effect if you look at the light, but as soon as you turn around the lighting is just static. So if I were you, I'd be waiting for this because its gunna blow that mod outta the water (no offense, I enjoyed that mod, but nothing beats the real deal).

Thats not true HDR and most likely wont be anything near the quality as the official one.
 
That's not even partial HDR. It's just adding a bloom to the lights making them look brighter.

After being saturated with media on every aspect of HL2 before I played it, I'm glad to be left in the dark a bit on this new stuff. :p

Plus, we know the level will be set during the day, in a Ravenholm-ish coast setting with poisonous headcrabs (yay!)
 
so what was so cool about this poison headcrab walking across the floor?
 
ok i just saw the video and from what i saw looks Amazing finally a treat for those of us with high end PC's thank you VALVE.

P.S. Not sure if my PC can handle HL2's HDR well find out in a few weeks.

Imo, I think it'll be nice to see. I am curious about how the effects will integrate in with things like the sprites/cheats already in HL2...
 
G4 was showing porn directly on the TV screen right before the HL2 thing, and that's illegal, so showing the video of HL2 shouldn't be a big deal. Tell them they can sue for copyright infringment when they get out of jail for broadcasting kiddie porn during prime time.

lmfao, the ending was possibly the best. I was saddened that we didn't see a little more of the level, and lots of talking, but not complaining. I just love seeing some newb try to throw down some flaming alcohol and have his face erupt. That deserves it's special..."Pwnd" tag on it.

Indeed, HL2 now has a 'world glow' sprite render mode, which is meant to simulate bloom, but it will be redundant with HDR blooms.

Does HDR in HL2 have exposure control?

I lost TechTV in my country because G4 bought it out.
Sucks to be me.

I got that video, but mine is corrupted and the picture freezes after a few seconds but continues wih the audio.

No I mean more like, when you're in a dark room, the sky and everything outside is fully bright and bloomy, and as you step outside, your eyes slowly adjust to the lighting and the outside world looks less bright, but when you look back inside everything is very dark.
 
I thought that since it was aired on broadcast, it could be reproduced as long as the comercials were included?
 
Also confirmed, Lombardi admits that the Alyx expansion pack for HL2 is rumor, not reality. Sorry guys, but it looks like it's up to the mod community to make such a game possible.

Did they really say that. A lot of people seem to have heard it.
