Game ruined for me, partly due to my, partly due to valve's actions.

Well I just want to say that I have been spoiled on many forums on different sites, including this one, and I mean serious spoilers.

Very important things in the game, things you don't want to know before playing. Of course I don't know all, but I know some key elements.

Storywise, I think this game is ruined for me, after 1.5 years waiting. It SUCKS, I feel really bad about it lol ..

THIS IS, INDIRECTLY, Because of Valve: They made another mistake, and let the script dialogue of hl2 leak in the cs:s files, impossible to understand if you ask me.

I forgave Valve the hl2 leak, i forgave them the delay, ( and the unofficial delays also), and I never critisized them one bit. But now I came to the point where I have to say: Because of valve (leak in cs:s files) ( and partly my own) actions, this game is ruined for me, storywise. I know to much, I think.

Plz don't say "oh no, another one of these threads": You don't know -and be happy about it- how this feels.

Do a better job on this leaking matter next time Valve, PLEASE.

How about you blame your own dumb self for seeking out the information. No one forced you to read it, no one forced you to register on these forums and browse it. If you are so upset about it, then you should never have looked at any information regarding hl2 at all.

Out of curiousty, where is this script dialogue in the Valve folder.

True it's my own fault, ( the biggest part) but indirectly valve's because they let the hl2 storyline leak in cs:s files (omfg)

And my eyes fel on it, I didn't search for it.

It was another case, where not spoiler tags were added.
 
Xenome, while I was surprised when I heard the script was leaked withy CS:S I realized the script was encrypted in the CS files. The only way anyone knew they were there was but snooping around where they shouldn't have been. Not Valves fault if you ask me.

If you think this is bad, wait for preloading for HL2- people are going to be snooping where they shouldn't and find stuff there too.


And then, once the game is released and people are playing it. there will be those that spoil things then too.
 
lol, I don't mind the spoiler, how can I read this script. PM me if you feel it isn't for public consumption.
 
I have spoiled the game for me a lot. Yet, I don't care. To be honest I don't understand why it's such a big hassle. The stuff that's around the internet right now spoils relatively much only if you really go search for them or knowingly read suspicious forums.
To me, playing HL2 the first time without knowing anything about it isn't like wanking for the first time or anything. I don't feel any difference. Actually, the more I know the more I want to play through them myself.
 
It just shouldn't be there, that's logical sense to me.

Again: I'm not saying valve intentionally did things or anything.
I know they have good intention with everything they did so far, and are, to me, one of the best, or the best developers in the world.

But those leaks shouldn't be there for people to discover.
 
Yeah, if your so mad I'd reccomend you unplug your pc until hl2 is released. If not, quit whining.
 
You're the one who opened the .gcf and looked at it. It's not like Valve emailed you the script. You prodded, and you got it. Way to ruin the game for yourself, nosy lil' hax0r. (I feel no sympathy for you.)

So you are blaming Valve for spoiling the story for you because they leaked it and you found it and didn't have sence enough to not read it? Wow....I thought I had heard everything.

If you read this line:

You're eyes fall on it, without wanting to. You look away if it's a spoiler, but still remember parts of what's said.

See what I mean?
 
dude, that file was huge. i briefly looked at it, the only way you could spoil the game for yourself is if you read it for liek 15 minutes straight. don't give me this "my eyes just happened to fall on it"
 
Lemme guess when you came across these files you supposedly wern't even looking for did you read the whole thing knowing you were spoiling parts of the story? Stop whining, if you cared so much you would have stopped reading after you knew there were spoilers ahead. Valve made a mistake, but it in no way is their fault that you personally spoiled parts of the game for yourself. Also, can you honestly say the game is ruined after reading these things, the story isn't the whole game.

Damn I DID NOT SEE THIS CFG file, I don't even know how to open it.

As I said, and if you would have read my story:

Some ass on a forum posted it, HE had read it.

plus I got a private message on irc from another fagget who told me those spoilers.
 
When you post something that short, then your eyes will fall upon it, but you are talking about the entire Half Life 2 story, and I don't think they were able to sum up the entire story in a short little sentence like that. It would be paragraphs long and yes your eyes would be drawn to it, but you could have just closed it and never read it.
 
I can't open that big one in notepad, too big.
 
I'm still waiting to hear how it's Valve's fault that some asshat spoiled the story for you in private messages.
 
How the HELL can you "accidentally" read that whole spoiler?

I have been hanging around several forums the past few days and I haven't even seen where to get it! I haven't even heard brief descriptions of any of the spoilers, except for Schomzy's visit thread. honestly. :rolleyes:

As I said, and again, if you read my start post:

I read certain things about the game, and yes i guarantee you, they can be said in one short sentence. Maybe others can verify this for me.
And no, I do NOT know the whole story, just some things I would rather not know.

I say it is, indirectly, and no of course it's not valve intention or anything.

I'm just saying: If valve would not keep letting this things happen ( pre-alpha stolen, the dialogue script somewhere in cs:S files)

This would not have happened also.
 
If you read this, then it's your own damn fault for spoiling the game. Don't blame Valve.
 
well i saw another thread it had the spoilers in but you had to highlight it to see. I resisted and very proud i did. I dont want to know anything about the story

Ok so I got a .gcf reader, read the .txt files in the script folder. What spoliers are you talking about.

How can It be my fault for reading these spoilers?

I heard even some people on THIS forum got PM's from people, filled with spoilers. They also saw some key-words, they wouldn't want to see..

I never said it's Valve's fault I read those spoilers, I said it's valve's fault for the spoilers being around.

Learn to read, then come back please.
 
there ain't no dam scripts. I searched for the dam scripts aND i could not find nothing. just some loading procedures and that is all.
 
Well, sympathy for others on this forum has fallen to an all time low, and frankly im disappointed. What happened?

Every single person on this forum knows how easy it is to give away huge amounts of the story in one small sentance.

The G-man is an ally.
Gordon is a dog.
Alyx is really Eli.
Eli is the Gman wearing a latex mask.

Of course I made those up, they make no sense. But I could easily have given away huge amounts of the plot in those short sentances. If any of you had read them, would it have been 'your fault' for looking at them?

Valve made a mistake putting the entire script in not-very-encrypted files. Fine, mistakes happen. The real villains are the people who spread these spoilers without warning, not the people who read them.

So, a collective 'lightening up' would be helpful. I have nothing but sympathy for anyone who's HL2 experiance is marred by the inconsideracy of others.

My Opinion on Spoilers:

20% Valve's fault.
80% The person who spoiled its fault.
0% The person who it was spoiled for's fault (unless of course they were looking for spoilers)
