Game won't play since new patch

Just let Steam update to the latest patch and the game just freezes on the blured load screen. The game has always been fine on my pc with no problems at all.

9800 Pro Latest ATI drivers
2.6 P4
1gb Ram.
XP Pro SP1

Any ideas?

Ta for the link but still no luck

SP2 not installed because of issues with Cubase and VST's. That was in the early days really, so no excuse now. I'll try that and see if it helps.

I had the same problem. For some reason, on my comp anyway, it had to do with Zone Alarm firewall. I un-installed and I use Sygate firewall now. No problems since.
