Games that should never, ever be made into films

I could enjoy a Diablo movie if it was chalked full of the story line instead of all fight scenes. Of course fight scenes are good, they just don't need to be over done.
 
To repeat, all of them, if a computer game converted to a film wins an oscar in my lifetime, ill drink 12 bottles of bear then eat the bottles.
 
The MGS games are basically already movies, all they have to do is put more cinematics in between MGS3 cutscenes to fill in the game-play gaps, then there! It's a movie!

Starcraft already is a movie. It's called Aliens.

Honestly, if a Starcraft movie was made, there would be serious copyright issues...

the list is really just to big. a better question would be movies that shouldnt be made into games.
 
Why would half life be a bad movie? doesn't have to follow the events of the game necessarily, there's alot more backstory there.

well it has to do with perspective. a good production of HL would need gordon but to stay true to the genre it would have to be through his , in the first person which doesn't work very well with movies doom is a really good example of that...
 
God of War.

They will kill it. Not maybe, not "it could be good." No. It would suck. And I'm sure someones planning it already.

That's no where near a Starcraft movie. There is more to Starcraft than Marines and Zerglings.

Does Starship troopers have siege tanks? Huge alien ships capable of taking out planets? Hundreds of Battlecruisers traveling in space, only to be suprised attacked by thousands of alien scourages and mutalisks? No!
Damnit! Starcraft is much more badass than starship troopers or aliens! It would be much different, more badass, more explosions, and orgasmic!
 
Most of these responses imagine films based not on the core thematic tenets of cited games but on the second-to-second mechanics. THIS IS SILLY. If you made a film of Command and Conquer it would be about two ideologies clashing violently in the ruins of a post-apocalyptic society with large battle sequences - not about a harvester repeatedly collecting tiberium and three tank rushes.

No, the starcraft cinamatic video's kick ass. Think of the one where the marines are in the space shuttle to blow it up. Then all of the sudden there being rampaged by hydralisks.
 
Any game at all...ever

Games can't be films, the second you take the player element out of a game it's really uninteresting

Should I even point out that that scene is largely a reference to Alien? (If its the one I'm thinking of with the cold-fusion cooler etc)

I would agree it is referenced to Aliens, but I would further agree that it is more badass than Aliens. That's not to say Aliens isn't badass. I'm just saying that a movie on Starcraft, done right, and like the cinematics would be absolutely amazing; and could be as badass as 300 having sex with Gladiator in space.

When I think about it, 300 is actually pretty similar to God of War, though...

and remember that mars attacks and alien are the EXACT SAME MOVIE!! they both have aliens in them! i mean come on... what is he difference? star wars and event horizon or the exact same movie too, they are both in space i mean come on.. SPACE!! wait a second so is star ship troopers mars attacks alien and star craft!! wow... they are all the exact same movie!!
