I don't get gay pride parades. I mean they can do it but the concept seems dumb. If someone held a straight pride parade everyone would just look at them like an idiot.

They can do it but the whole thing just seems dumb. Some of the ones in San Francisco I've seen pictures of are really bad (sex in the streets)
But I know that's just mainly there and most parades are just that parades. The idea still seems dumb to me though, I don't care what they prefer sex wise, it's not my business.

I think that they do it to get attention and to make sure that people are taking notice of them. But people do notice them and they are taken seriously and they are an accepted part of society. I have nothing against gay people as m friends are gay, i just don't like to be around really camp people and unfortunately for gay men, the typical gayman stereotype is a really camp guy who just wants to have sex with lots and lots of men.

actual sex? penetration? fellatio? I find that hard to believe ...sure nudity and mabe heavy petting but I cant see them openly engaging in sex without police intervening

Not really, i just see it as a really sad country where a minority group has to celebrate that they actually have rights. Everyone should have rights, just like everyone else.

Like thingy said, you would never see a straight pride week as straight people are used to having rights. Gay people are now being given the same rights as straight people, in most countries apart from America and the other religious fanatical countries, so will it get to a point where Gay Pride weeks and celebrations will be pointless?

but so are women blacks and other monority groups ...the US has martin luther king day and the world has "International Woman's day" (since 1909) why couldnt they have a day for celebrating gay civil rigths? I dont understand why people care ...I'm not irish but that doesnt stop me from going to a pup on st patricks day for a few pints or watching the parade on tv

Homophobia may not be such a big thing any more, but it is still readily apparent (going from my experience). Gay Pride Day is pretty much a way of saying "Hey! We're people too!".

While I see where some people are coming from when they ask why we don't have a Straight Pride Day or White Pride Day, I personally couldn't care. When contextualized, things such as Gay/Black Pride Day have more meaning, significance, and relevance.

And I too would like to see a Heretic Day, although perhaps a name with softer edges would be more appropriate... like "Day Of The Infidels".

Yeah, I guess I shouldn't really care about queers if they don't bother me. Its not like I lose sleep over it. Why can't all the Europeans living in America have a day just for them, they're a minority. Is there an Arab American day? they are a minority that have been oppressed far more in the past few years then the gays ever were.

My argument is actually mute if there is a national European American day .

And i just can't see a gay pride day where people dress up as women or go completely naked giggling their love jewels or whatever as helping their rights. Too me, it is just an excuse to get together with other people like themselves and have a party, which i can't see anything wrong with. But like i said, why does the minorities, who most of which at the moment aren't actually a minority, let alone an oppressed minority, get a day where as me, being a white heterosexual Englishman don't? I think that is a lot of the problem that people have with homosexual men, the vast majority of gay men live very normal lives without dressing up as women and without wearing leather, bondage outfits and without having a really camp persona, but this small minority of gay people who do might give a bad generalisation to all gay people in the eyes of a lot of people.

how can you compare a man to a goat? If someone kills a goat should it he be charged for murder? In a gay marrage it's 2 people who love eachother and want to spend the rest of their lives together. If the goat was a human it whould be rape.
