Gears of War 2 Gameplay

Long game droughts?

Aye, the ones you fill by playing ancient pc games. I've been there.

*looks at uber new pc, loads up System Shock 2, and mumbles something about the good old days of pc gaming*

If ten years is ancient for you, you really need to overhaul your attention span. :)

I see your point though - very little really good games have been released lately.

I hope they've improved the Squad A.I., they were completely useless in GOW.

gears was good the first time

but didnt feel like play it again

and it felt like incomplete whit things like the lack of a battle whit the giant thing whit cannons on its back

^True dat, and I hated how AI team mates couldn't heal other AI team mates, and how I had to do it all. D:

There are a lot of great PC games, past and recent. I see several new high quality PC games every time I go to the store.

The problem is that they hardly advertise them, and usually don't advertise them at all.

See my thing is though, I don't like RTS games, or FPS that don't set themselves apart with unique gameplay, and there are floods of both of those.

I'm stating the obvious here, but advertising costs a lot of money, and the PC market isn't as big.

Cliffy B is a sexy beast

Also, the game looks alright, still won't buy it

You meant the console players didn't get the Brumak battle episode in their game?
:p

Yeah, the PC version of GOW was really something...

* Bonus content
* Better controls
* Better higher resolution graphics

Don't see where everyone's getting that the combat is more dynamic. It looks more intense and varied maybe, but just as linear as the first. I mean, it's literally on rails...

Only one of those is important, the second a matter of preference which in no way is a fact to the game being better and the third... come on now, well, you're just clutching at straws. I found GOW very nice to look at on the 360 - like, really good - so why do I care if gets up'd a tiny bit more? I think it's pretty safe to say it's only a small niche of people who really care about graphics that much (Crysis retail sales lolo?)

You have a point with the content (regardless that it wasn't anything new and was mearly just a very tedious hook, line and sinker run around with that giant dinosaur thing) and that isn't even done well when the game played horribly due to bugs and crashes. Content is null and void if it simply doesn't play well, and the versions I played didn't, and a lot of the copies I read about on thar internetz played the same. Maybe your copy was different, but I'm all for the PC players getting GOW on time as I don't see the reason to divide the crowds with petty elitism and hate.

The only elitism and hate I see is you, pops, hunting my posts all over the forum with feeble attempts at trying to estabilish superiority for getting GTA IV before me.

FYI: I have absolutely no craving for GTA IV.

Also, stop clutching at straws. PC version of GoW is superior, objectively.

We're in the realm of negligible differences. The extra content was so so and controls wise I found the game superior with a pad. Sure, you can play the pc version with a pad and output to a big tv, but that's just hassle for most people. Scraps from the console table.

Oh yeah, course. I've done like two little digs towards you but that's really something to stack up against your not-so-sly digs at consoles, Bioshock, ''dumbing down'' and even this very thread, right? You even finished your post with more of the same. :LOL:

Come off it man, I've even said a great number of times I'm all for the division between the two platforms just... disappearing. I'm all for both GTA, GOW2, Mass Effect... etc, all being out at the same time if only to smooth over the goddamn arrogance of the two crowds when it comes to who gets what first or how much different it is because of time or effort.

Besides, I was just having a joke with you anyway. It's not like your unfamilar with the whole digs thing, is it? :p

Crysis sold over a million copies though :|

Oh, I thought it failed in the market? Must of been thinking of something else.

Yeah, but too bad the newer generation of technology make it so ridiculously unstable, thousands are unable to play it :(

I finished it on an older computer, but on my newest right it just crashes after a minute. Tried everything, but I'll just leave it alone until they release a new patch I guess :(

Apparently, slapping somebody in the face and telling them to get up is all that it takes to recover from hundreds of bullet wounds.

True, apart from saying "Shit...!" over a million times, and emphasizing that you were a badass emo, but hey...if that's what it takes.

Just a year after the fact. :p

As a 360 player, I would've liked to have gotten my hands on that additional content, though, but oh well. Doubt they would've put it up for free anyway, which is all I'd pay for it.

GoW was good, yet somewhat repetitive, dull, and with an extremely cheap boss fight.

This video looks more exciting than anything in GoW 1.

Man, a few days after I finished GoW, I thought to myself "If they ever make a sequel, they need to have chainsaw duels!" Glad to see thats become a reality.

Looks amazing, I will pick this up for sure! I personally liked the SP of the first game.

SP needed more change, most of the time it was too similar. Run and take cover, that sorta thing, and even though GoW is built on that and much more, I still would have liked to see more.

I wonder how chainsaw duels will be done. Prefferalby some QTE :)

From the video(yes I am watching this thread like a hawk) it looks like pressing B button faster and mashing it will yield in Marcus or Dom winning the duel between Locust. :)

Yeah, seemed that way. Can see it getting old pretty quick tbh, not really a fan of mashing...

Something else that bugged me about the chainsaw duelling when I rewatched this earlier - when one of your teammates appears to be duelling with a locust, Marcus runs up behind them and chainsaws the locust in the back, freeing his teammate from the duel and possible death. In the next shot, Marcus is duelling another locust, and what appears to be the very same teammate is standing right there... literally right behind the locust, just staring into space and doing **** all to help!

****ing useless squad A.I. :|

Yeah, it seems useless, but do you REALLY want an ally ruining your moment of glory by backstabbing the sucker you are fighting?

Guess I was one of the few that wasn't really impressed... D:

Well, it certainly looks like it will play quite similar to the first GoW, and the graphics look very similar (me watching it in SD doesnt do it justice i bet...).

Yes. War is war, not some kind of goddamn honorable fencing duel.

No, I feel the same way. All I'm seeing is a literally on rails sequence and a bunch of scripted action. Pretty much what we've seen for the past 8 year, just better looking. Sure scripted games are still great, but judging by the first one, Gears 2 probably won't have the innovation and variety of HL2, the class and direction of CoD4, or the artistry and atmosphere of BioShock. Just more enemies that take way too many shots to kill, forgettable story (I don't even remember what happened in the first one), short singleplayer, and one-dimensional, grotesquely muscular tough guys who have stereotypically "badass" dialog and unintentionally homo-erotic overtones. And not in a tongue-in-cheek way; in a sad junior high school way. And I don't think they could have come up with a less interesting mechanic for chainsaw duels. imo...

Oh yes, this. The weapons sounds seem really weak too, something I absolutely totally hate in games. I guess that could be only due to the low quality of the vid though. God, after reading 5 pages of awe and worship, I already thought I was going crazy not seeing the awesomeness of the game in the vid. So relieved to notice that not everyone was as impressed as the most. In any case, I hope this turns out much better than what the video seems to suggest. I'll probably get crusified for saying this but even the bland killzone footage impressed me more... :eek:

seems like GoW 1.5..... tey always do this with great GOTY games. The sequals are always 0.5 upgrades.. except for HL2 ofcourse
