In a "Game Head" video posted on Gametrailers.com, Epic Games' VP Mark Rein announced that a Mac version of Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3 are heading to the platform. Rein enthusiastically announces in the video, "And don't forget, we're also doing Macintosh. Yes, Gears is coming to the Mac and so is UT".

Using the Unreal 3 engine, Gears of War is a third-person tactical action/horror game that has been a runaway best-seller on the XBOX 360 selling over 3.5 million copies. The Windows version of Gears of War was announced last week and Epic promises all-new content, including three new multiplayer maps, a new multiplayer game type, game editor, and five new campaign chapters for the Windows version.

It certainly confirms that you don't need vista. You don't even need windows. :p

Sweet! I tihnk so because Mac people need games too and ... that's it. I think it's cool that the Windows version gets 5 new chapters too. I might buyzor it.

What's even better is you can play Gears of War right now on the xbox 360! Lawdy lawd! :p

yes, Half-life2, Oblivion, F.E.A.R and whatever else is on pc ..in fact it runs great on a notebook ..every single mac made within the last 2 years can play anything on pc so long as they have winxp installed

you can get a mac with 8 cores: 2 x quad core intel xeons

you can also get up to 16G of ram ..yes 16G

slap in a ati 1900 and soon the nvidia 8xxx series and voila! perfectly capable of playing games

now that's a workstation for things like movie editing, music making and scientific research, also makes for a great multimedia machine for huge corporations as you can run 8 monitors with 4 video cards: perfect for corporate fuctions ..not really made for guys with limited budgets who only use their pcs for video games/internet surfing/porn

macs have always been pcs

but no, macs can dual boot into either osX or windowsxp/vista ..also runs linux
 
well, os x is a unix based os after all.

Good for them I guess, any word on if they have multiplayer support?

And don't you have to sign some blood pact with them too?
 
they're about as expensive as high end pcs

and no blood pact, that part is usually outright offered by people who use macs ..there's a reason why users are loyal

incorrect as been reported by the pc gamer podcast people.

Reportedly, ms is porting the windows live service to xp and GoW will be the first xp game to use it.

mp3 players are useless? does that only apply to ipods or all mp3s in general? seeing as how Apple controls 75% of the mp3 player market share that means that you think mp3 players in general are useless ..also rich idiots? the ipod is within a few dollars of all mp3 players ..so you're in fact saying that mp3 players in general are a stupid rich man's toy ..not just ipods

a former colleague of mine teaches a college course, he podcasts his lectures so that students can have an added resource, he says attendence has actually gone up based on his podcasts because students find it interesting, moreso than typical lectures. I listen to at least a dozen podcasts on everything from technology to design to video games ..most of them are very informative ..I dont even use my ipod as a music player anymore


Hazar, you are correct, windows Live will be ported to Xp ..which kinda makes Vista redundant, I mean that was one of the few selling points aimed at gamers

I haven't met anyone who uses a MAC and a PC who doesn't prefer the mac.

no you dont need windows to run the Mac version of GoW ..it's native to mac osX

blizzard also always ports their games to mac ..4-5% of market share may seem small but 4-5% of millions is stil a lot ..and in the case of WoW, near 100% of those 4-5% is still a lot of enchiladas
 
But wasn't the unreal engine built on directx. Does this mean, unreal can use openglide, or that OSX can use directx.
