Hey all, I just got 3ds max a couple days ago

Started working on a glock today

glock.jpg

Yeah, it sucks but I'm a total n00b to 3d.
Hope you like it

hehe, try using some reference pics, you'll get a better result, though you can always tell thats a glock, even if it is a bit glocky, i mean blocky :p

it needs a bit more of a sense of 3D, its very 2D atm, try rounding the handle and other parts, that is, if you're going to carry on with it. how long did that take you ??

also, have you read the tutorials that come with Max ?

Chamfer. Easiest way to curve low poly objects. Dont listen to anyone else' methods there all insane.

well, the other easy, and even more poly efficent way is to extrude the bolys on the front/back of handle, and scale them down a bit, and apply a smoothing group.

Not much worse than my first model....... of course i didnt stick with it.

you could also just extrude or somting and then pull the verticies or scale.

^^ Whats the point of taken six steps when you can take one. Chamfer is the easiest and most accurate way of rounding low poly objects. Do it wack a smooth group on bam perfect.

chamfer, screws up alot!!! at least for me.. i prefer doing every thing my self even though it takes long, i know how everything was done. BTW I HATE BOLEANS!!!

nice, I like the colour, Its very agitating, yet suspenceful

Did you extrude a spline? If thats the case then chamfer definatly won't work his model will just fall apart. Because he has more than four sided polygons. keep it 3 or 4 sided!
