God hates Steam and takes it down with storm

From the thread if you click on "Prey available on Steam" in my sig, but the post was removed by a moderator :p

I would expect them to have a backup, all the servers for Steam in one location? I sniff competition vandalism.

Sucks for Steam, but the storm means I don't have school, or atleast a 2 hour delay. And this is the last day before winter break. If theres no school I get two weeks to do all my homework I procrastinated about :D

They are located in a bank, that should need power 24/7 this is one of those "oh shit" moments.

And science hates you.
As a matter of fact, science loves me.

I'm going to be a civil engineer and earn loads of money :D

Edit: Oh, and by the way:
As heard on the news, electric poles have been snapped in half by the storm around Bellevue/Seattle.
It is possible it may take several days to restore power.

Al Gore was right.

Oh shit.

*Earth implodes*

Yeah there's looooooooooooads of people complaining about it, who could ever think of having two servers both in the same location? Valve!

It's the same storm that has been trying to blow my house down!

I have to agree with you! Valve are so clever aren't they?

there's a difference between staying home all day and playing cs and wanting to play a little cs before work. Yay, now i get to do nothing for the last 40minutes of my day.

I was downloading some stuff so my pc has been on all night, so I'm still logged in :) Though css gives me 'error verifying steamuser ID ticket' error.

damn steam, how stupid this system can get!?
now i understand people who are using cracked valve games, they seem to have much more advantages.

Yeah, like spyware! :rolling:

Don't matter to me, I only have access to my laptop on weekends (this is actuallly the last weekend to be like that for a month :p)

Yea there's an offline mode...

I am not going to turn my Steam off! :p

*Edit* Erm... Isn't HL2.net servers located at Valve? Or are they only paid for by Valve but hosted elsewhere? I mean, I was just thinking that HL2.net should be down then as well...

Yup, since Steam is down, it means I can't even play Half Life 2 in OFFLINE MODE.

I love Steam and I love myself even more for buying Steam games.

No I CAN'T.

The first thing I was asked to do this morning was to login, something that I never do because I have Steam set up to remember my password. Since I can't login, I can't play in OFFLINE MODE.

Get lives, this really doesn't bother me, since I posted earlier I've went to work and back and still not worried that its down. It would be stupid for VALVe to have authentication servers anywhere but where they are. You can't trust everyone in the world...

It's irresponsible of Valve not to have back up servers elsewhere. Not that they would care though, since they already got our money. All I know is that if Seattle were to get nuked, none of us would play Valve games ever again and our investments would go down the drain.

I don;t even have steam installed right now.I just hope all the accounts are ok lol.

can I ask you something? When you login to this forum, do you type Atnema or AEnema? Dumb question. You must type AEnema.

I just copy and pasted ?†nema,I hope it gets fixed.but I dont really mind it though.
