Since when have players needed a reward to attempt achievements? Many should arise in just average gameplay - it's when you have a lot of people trying to do obscure or non-teamplay achievements that things go bad.
Valve knows the legit achievements from the console'd ones. It's only a matter of time before the records are set straight. If the command just released the weapons I agree it would be all good, but right now there is no point to even achieving achievements.
I like it in theory, but I think it would only lessen the problem slightly - they would be status symbols, which the new weapons partly were anyway and people would still be willing to do the same things to get them.BUT, there was a good idea on the steam forums to have the achievements unlock cosmetic items like new clothes "bloody apron" or models. I think that would be the best solution because you can still show that you earned the achievements in game, but the earning of achievements isn't directly tied to the new weapons or affecting gameplay. Then they could release the weapons to everyone also. What do ya think?
While the number of medics was annoying (and will be again once Valve fixes things), I'm more concerned with the quality of play. I don't want the tide of a battle turned because a Medic and his Heavy friend think it's a good idea to uber and try punching people to get the achievement - fun for them annoying for the rest of us.Also why is everyone complaining about so many medics playing?
God ****ing dammit, you can't go into a server without the entire team being Heavies and Medics. Jesus shitting in a ****ing brick bucket. Should stop once everyone is done whoring though so yeah.
Valve should follow the CoD4 route with achievements and unlocks, like so:
You need 3000 points per weapon, every achievement nets you 250 points, so 12 achievements = still a weapon. But points scored in games also help you reach your goal, simply by adding your score to the points you have (plus perhaps some bonus for stuff you did that helped your team, like win the game or cap a flag). That way it's possible for everyone to get the new content, just the skillful people get it faster. I know I'll never kill 20 people with a Heavy, which means I'll never see the Ubersaw, without cheesing the achievements. I don't think achiements should be a requirement for getting new content.
You will if I'm your heavy

Agreed, although I also think just giving out the weapons is a valid option too. The real kicker is that the new weapons aren't that much better than the old ones (in fact I think there is a strong argument that the Kritzkreg isn't as good as the usual one).Valve should follow the CoD4 route with achievements and unlocks, like so:

Goldrush = the hardest map ever, no way the blue team can win this.

What?Btw, new update which resets peoples achievements (the people who used console command).
EDIT: nevermind
Medic achievements have ruined some games for me.
