as title say

I got a new computer and have a game installed in the previous one, there is a way to transfer the games or stuff?

I think you'll have to download them again. I tried copying the directories onto my new PC but Steam didn't pick them up.

2 options.

1/. Install steam. Log in, set your games downloading, go to bed.

2/. Use steams backup facility to create files to transfer. If you have a USB stick, make them that size. Then save as executables, installing steam if not already present. If you will have the 2 pcs on a network, transfer the executables that way.

1 is slower but easier.

I just copied the entire steam directory over. That always worked for me after I reinstalled Steam on the new PC.

Same here. Steam seemed to handle this quite nicely (thanks Valve!). I can't say that other installed programs copied easily to the new hard drive.

I have similar question, so instead of making a new thread I'll ask it here.

I'm gonna buy a new computer in two weeks, but i'm gonna use it in my dorm. My Steam games are installed back at home. Is it possible to download and play games in my dorm, while those at my home are still installed? Or do i have to uninstall them there in order to play here? I travel a lot between these two places and I would like to be able to play games at both of them.

You can install your Steam games on as many PCs as you want.

You can use the steam backup feature to avoid re-downloading everything or just transfer your \Steam\steamapps\ folder in whatever method you want.

When Steam Cloud is implemented you'll automatically be able to start a game in your dorm and then continue it from your saved game later back home

thanks for help guys, this is gonna come in handy.
