Gothic 3 demo this friday

By you saying that you dont even need to do that when you DO NEED TO, its obvious that you arnt fighting correctly.

lol so you're saying even though rapidly clicking the left mouse button and winning every battle with every opponent i've so far come up against isn't actually winning because i'm not 'fighting correctly'?
Why should I voluntarily handicap myself by playing 'the correct way' (in your eyes) just because the option to do so is built into the game? that's just dumb. If you want to cut off your nose to spite your face, go ahead and play 'correctly', but don't make out we all have to.

And in case you still haven't figured it out, the only one here arguing over graphics v gameplay is you...

BTW Stern - have you tried the demo yet? any joy?

How would you know? You havent even played the game. The story is damned good, and its better when you know the story from the last two games. And the whole story is about how the orc came and kicked the shit out of the humans. If you couldnt fight or work then you got killed, so not many women would survive.

And to CR0M... I honestly think that you arnt fighting the right way. Thats probably why you hate the gameplay also. Its not a game where you can just pick up the game and be amazing at the combat. You need to know when to dodge, block, and attack. You need to know what spell to cast depending on what it does and if you have enough time to prepare for their attack afterwards. By you saying that you dont even need to do that when you DO NEED TO, its obvious that you arnt fighting correctly.

And I believe you are wrong about the graphics thing. Ever played Deus Ex? Ever played Mount and Blade? Ever play any ****ing flash game on the internet? Text based games? You dont need graphics at all for it to be a fun game. If you want to argue immersion you will have a hard time because its different for everyone. I can get immersed in N64 games much more so than many of today's games (F.E.A.R, Oblivion, Call of Duty etc). A lot of people never get immersed no matter what because they instinctively know they are playing a game no matter how into it they get. Immersion is a BS argument.

I think the ONLY arguement you guys have against this is Performance... which is more based on your PCs than anything. Granted they should have tried harder to tweak it for more hardware... but thats going to come with patches and updates.

Playability generally helps immersion and overall reception of a game, your arguements are nill if the game isn't even playable or fun at the point they decided to release it.

well I've played the game for a few hours ..***ns kinda crappy: medium settings on my rig ..even though it ran Oblivion at max settings

the game is a diamond in the rough ...really really rough ....performance issues aside I can see a fun game underneath ..but the performance issues just dont let you get to the fun

..I dont stand a chance against the boars ..I've managed to kill one ..and that was only cuz I peppered him full of arrows before it charged me ..more fluke than skill ..trying to use anything except spamming the weak swordstrike is useless against a boar ..as soon as the boar sees an opening you're dead

aye, all true. I agree this could be a seriously great game if it wasn't hampered by inability to play it. Maybe in a year or so after it's been patched and modded to death I'll dig it out of my drawer and give it another look in.

Ah, but... is that the demo you played or the retail game? just asking as the demo won't have the retarded copy protection that causes the dreaded stutter...

ya but by then sales of this game could be extremely low ..especially in NA as it doesnt have that large a built-in audience ..it's sad that developers shoot themselves in the foot by releasing an unfinished product ..they lose momentum which they'll probably never recover ..had the european launch been relatively bug free, word of mouth alone could have drove sales ..as it is now word of mouth will result in gamers staying away from the game
